I have been told that it will all be last day shopping at Spurs this year. (again)
waiting for the right player at the right price
coach happy with the players he has knows what he wants but DL not going to over pay like he did last year

In other words we need to shift 4/5 before bringing in 1 or 2 more.

So Levy saw buying players early did not result in a good start by AVB and has ruled out that approach for Poch. Very frustrating, if so. Getting in players early in transfer window allows the manager to work on their fitness and tactical discipline. Very difficult to do that in the season, especially for a club with mid week european matches.

Makes perfect sense to me - Poch will probably begin to knows his match day squad and the youth who can fill some gaps. The fringe players need to move on and then we should only look to bring in first 11 challenging players (+highly rated kids) to replace them. Hopefully this will form the basis of the next few windows and we will slowly piece together a very strong and interchangeable squad

Is this referring to Musacchio? I doubt it as it seems it will happen this week sometime. Anyway, I personally think we only need Schneiderlin after MM and I've said before that if it happens it will be on Deadline Day.

i dont know if its about MM, but it was posted in the MM thread, perhaps because theres no general transfers thread over there and MM thread is the currently most active one

The only remaining signing I think we need, is an experienced CB, such as MM.

I hope we're signing him regardless of waiting for outgoings like Atlanta suggests. Any other signing on top, fine, wait til we've trimmed the squad.

Short and sweet this morning as A&C is poorly and about to go to the Doctors.

Tomorrow I might tell you what happened when Levy met three lingerie models, a troupe of midget jugglers from Latvia and Scrooge McDuck. Maybe.
levy is going to pay 3 players to leave, or he will give them Mustachio rides, Yedlin announced, and not going to pay the price for Schneiderlin?

I personally would be surprised if the actual conclusion based on last year is that buying on the last day is the way to go. But that's simply opinions on my end.

Waiting for the last day of the window doesn't really result in lower fees for top players on long term contracts. MS and Depay are both vital players for their clubs. Saints and PSV are unlikely to respond well to a low ball bid for their best player on the last day of the window.

Yes you can get a VDV (unwanted) or an Eriksen (last year of deal) for cheap but IMO, going in late for Scheinderlin or Depay will only see a rejection or a demand for a premium fee. UTD thought they'd get Berba on the cheap with the same tactic. They ended up paying 30m!

JJ did say he fancied it would be one out of MM & MS, take from AtalantaYids post what you will, I'm more interested how A&C got on with the umbrella up the japs eye he went for this morning.

There are a few players that want out, who I could see being done in the same fashion as a VDV, out of no-where:

Depay, Nastasic, Schneiderlin, Cuadrado, etc

edit:

I assume one should also consider players soon to be out of contract:

Doumbia, Yarmalenko, Elm, Ben Arfa, Ayew, Dzagoev, etc

Very true, but I think it's a good - and revealing - analogy.

United desperately wanted Berbatov. We didn't desperately want Rafa. We were delighted to get him but if his price had been 16m, as it was earlier that summer when we enquired about him, we wouldn't have bought him. Levy took advantage of a situation resulting from Madrid's oversized squad.

Reveals to me that we don't feel we need any players but are in the market for an equivalent offer, assuming we can move someone along. And also shows how seriously we are taking our own oversized squad. I've never known a Spurs manager admit we're looking to sell before. Either he was seriously off-message and Levy won't be happy or - more likely - he was following agreed policy and we really, REALLY need to sell.

Actually, maybe that's what Levy is doing at the training ground. Carrying out a hit with Franco on Dawson and Vlad. Quick bundle into a hessian sack and sling them on the night train to Sunderland.
