If you think we deserved to win the tie based on that performance your hope should be bottled up and given to Orphans. Its delusional.

I am merely refuting your sweeping statements about how entirely shit we were and how we somehow stole something from another team despite scoring 4 goals against them over 2 games.

If you were to calmly and undramatically point out that they were probably the better footballing team over the two ties and, had they been more clinical with the chances they had probably would have won, then I may not have that much to disagree with you about.

The thing is though, we were the more clinical with our chances. Teams that do that, tend to win, and more often than that, deserve to.

They missed a penalty at a crucial moment in the tie and conceded 3 goals at home in a CL QF. Teams that do that don't really deserve to stand up and complain too much.

But you said you were there saying you expected to lose to the Liverpool fans?
Yes, cos as you can see above, I know we ain't all that. I knew then, and still know, they are a much much better side than us. But, football is
I’ve seen mediocrity. This isn’t it.

Another one for you @Everlasting Seconds :)
15 points in 15 games, is worse than mediocrity.

1 trophy is 28 years is worse than mediocrity.

We've had one, non mediocre season on the pitch in years, and it wasn't last season. It was 86 points. Last season, had 3 outstanding moments, in a largely shit campaign. 20 defeats in 59. Big picture, mediocre.

I hope people aren't going to start talking about the dark times we nearly went out of business again, it's dull. That's not the benchmark anymore.

OK, so you didn't read all the posts. Very clearly said City at home and Dortmund at home were the only games where we were not dreadful, or dreadful for large portions of the game. I won't bother replying.

When people start using England call ups to justify a player's quality, you know it's getting bad. :sneaky:
Just pointing out he must be Southgate’s pet too. That’s either a World Cup semi finalist manager and Champions League finalist manager getting it wrong, or it’s you. Don’t rush your answer now.

We’ve been top 6 for a decade, mostly top 4. That’s the most we’ve been consistent in our history. Not glory years, accepted. Mediocrity, no chance.

My answer is - England have absolutely nobody in central midfield who is comfortable in possession. Winks is. That isn’t good enough to play in CM for Spurs though. You need to show more than that. Southgate May even utilise him in a way that gets the best out of him. Unlike what Poch is doing currently, which is rubbish.

Haha. Look at that midfield.

Midfielders: Ross Barkley, Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, Mason Mount, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Declan Rice, Harry Winks

Is that supposed to indicate Winks is any good? It’s a shocking selection.

World cup semi finalist!!

Christ that's a low bar, 6 games of football, in which we beat Columbia on penalties, Tunisia, and some other pony country. It's almost semi pro.

That's like saying Bertrand must have been one of the best full backs in the world with only 5 games under his belt. He was, after all, picked by Champions league winner Roberto Di Matteo.

Not my problem. Anyway, point is, Winks is for another thread. There’s no evidence he’s the reason for this one.

Only 2 more wins would be World Cup winner. You’ve got to measure achievement somehow. Not just ‘winner’ and ‘should be sacked’.

Ok, I agree to an extent, but right now, we are worse than mediocre. This isn't a 5 game bad patch. It's 9 months, well over 25 matches. Since we beat Arsenal in the league cup, and then hammered Everton and Bournemouth. How does a team go from that good (We were looking fantastic) to the team that were beat by Wolves, and been terrible ever since. Yes, Injuries, blah blah. but it's the not just the poor results. It's clear for all to see.
