Linked with Lanzini again in the press today. Tbh I really want him. He is very gettable, especially how bad west ham is playing. Also, Poch really like argentine players, right? I think he may have a small chance to get in the Argentina team in world cup if he joined us in january. He still has a lot of potential. His ability to pass through balls and to get in to the box is really impressive (well, at least against us). More importantly, he plays cm, and he is better than sissoko. He also can be a backup no.10 that we really need.
Would be another signing purely on the basis that he plays well against us and look at how that has worked out with Sissoko. Really not at all the quality we should be looking at.

Okay. But at least Lanzini can pass the ball wisely and has a better first touch right? Currently only Winks can do this as a CM.

Lanzini is a CAM not a CM and he’s quite versitile I think he’d suit us very well and would thrive in a better team. Very skillful creative little player.

I think he is mostly used as a CM in a 3CM or 1DM 2CM system this season. But I agree with you that he may be a better player in CAM

Surely we aren’t using Sissoko as the benchmark for potential signings ?

If we want a passing CM we should be ambitious and go for someone like Goretzka. If we want creative CAMs we should be looking at Brandt or Pulisic, entirely different league to Lanzini. If our transfer targets are at the Lanzini level I’d rather we promote our youth players.

Just answer this, would any of our top 6 competitors compete with us for his signing ? I’d suggest the answer is an emphatic no.

He isn't really a cm, he's an AM, and a pretty ordinary one in the grand scheme of things. I think Bilic played him there recently, but it really didn't work out well did it ? I mean not terrible like "you know who" but still, pretty ordinary.

Neither Brandt or Pulisic are really CAM's, more wide forward inverted AM's. Fekir, on the other hand, is a very good CAM, who can also play AM and striker. Forsberg is another cracking CAM, who plays in a very high press system, so would suit us to a tee, but he may be on the shopping list of bigger fish already, as there aren't too many more eligible 10's kicking around right now.

Edit
And I can’t see why Forsberg would come here with players like Eriksen and Alli in his position already

Lanzini is hugely overrated. Look at his assists record it’s awful. Let’s be honest you really don’t have to be very good to look good in a West Ham team.Ideally we need 3 players.4 being greedy.
1. CM to replace dembele. Basically a young dembele. Which could be Barkley in theory he has the physical attributes.
2 AM mane/Salah type closest we have to that is Son.Possibly someone with a bit more power like a Zaha.
3 Imo to really compete PL/CL you need 6 AM we currently have 4 with Nkoudou and sissoko not good enough. So I’d add a young promising winger as the 6th AM. Maybe even a sessegnon that could play a bit part when needed.
4. The elusive back up striker.

Add those 4 to our squad replacing dembele Nkoudou sissoko Llorente And we are really in business. I think we may add the CM in January especially if wanyama is still out.As we don’t need anything defensively or DM. I’d be hopeful are focus now is purely on attacking options and by new stadium we will have a complete squad.
Barkley
Zaha/mahrez
Sessegnon
Striker? Nobody obvious in PL.But must say was quite impressed with Rondon the other day.

Note the key word here, which basically means he is just guessing. The issue then is still the same issue now!

He is injured, and not close to coming back!

Still injured? But @Mr Pink assured me that his injury was nothing more than an elaborate ruse designed by the Daily Mail and Everton to throw us off the scent?

Disappointing if true.

Exactly what we need in my view!

It's very true. He has had a couple of set backs, and without going into detail is less happy with Everton than he was in the Summer.

Lanzini is bang average.

Just get Barkley in if possible.Other targets won't happen until summer.

I remember the Mane is bang average/too expensive chat from a few years ago

Lanzini is a classy little player surrounded by a mountain of shit! The fact he’s beat us on his own virtually, twice, has probably left Poch with a decent opinion of him. I think he’d flourish with some real quality around him. Technically, he’s excellent. Something that’s missing in most of our attacking players ( Dele, Son, Sissoko, Nkoudou...sometimes these boys can’t trap a bag of cement )

Him or Barkley ( I’d probably prefer Barkley to be honest ) and someone like Zaha would give us great options

How do you rate Ndombele?

How do you rate Ndombele?

Big strong lad with good feet, good technique, he looks very promising, he can get a bit careless with the ball at times, but he is young.

Aouar is the kid at Lyon I’m really liking right now, tenacious, hard working, progressive with the ball. Busy, tidy, clever.

Pulisic would be the perfect signing for us, American poster boy, NFL franchise, possible interest from an American take over. IF it is in anyway possible to get this done get it done, the signing would pay for itself in the states. I very much doubt we would get a free run at him though and we will simply get blown out of the water.

I was inclined to think likewise. Then yesterday I read that Firmino is on £68k a week. Depending on whoever's vying for Pulisic's signature, maybe we needn't have to offer him stratospheric wages.
