They got two games in hand though (us and stoke). Tough one for klopp and interesting to see which basket he'll put his eggs in. I don't think he can hedge it. He has to go one way or the other imo.

Their prem. games after ours are decent if they can keep their key players fit.

Even with the games in hand mate, they needed to win today to keep top four realistically alive IMO. Gone for them now - all eggs surely got to be in the Europa League basket.

Not saying they won't be trying to win the game against us, they sure as hell will, but the Dortmund game will be viewed more important for sure.

No team has ever done us a favour though. We always get the shorty run of the green. All this hope, then we look at there team sheet and think, oh shit. Best to assume we are playing there best team and its gonna be bloody tough

I really don't think it will be on there minds. They will play a full strength team against us. People need to think this will be extremely tough and any suggestion they will take foot off gas because they have a game 5 days later couldn't be more wrong

Of course it will be tough and I expect them to be at full strength, or there about's - have a hunch Benteke will start actually, just saying the Dortmund game will be on their minds as well.

Against a lively attack I would rather keep a game ready Wimmer than Vertonghen with no match fitness.

So same as today.

Jan will hopefully be eased back in over the next few weeks. Could maybe even see some game time at LB if Davies is still injured.

Not sure, mate. If we beat them or draw then it'd probably be out of site for them.

Two super exhausting games against dortmund (a far superior team)...I dunno. Not sure it's such an easy decision for klopp tbf.

I'd be inclined to try and make sure I win the PL home game first in that situation.

It being klopp's ex. club he might not be able to resist trying to show them up though.

Fascinated to see how they deal with that period of four games.

Wouldn't be opposed to Jan, if healthy, making the bench. Then, should we have a lead late, throw him on to preserve it, maybe replacing a player like Alli/Lamela.

Surely if they have any chance of CL football next year their focus will be on Europa not us? Klopp will want to get one on his old team as well. I am in two minds about how to feel. The last time we won at Anfield was 5 years ago is the problem.

Oh yeah I'm not suggesting they won't be focused and doing their best to win the game against us. I just think the Dortmund game will be the more important of the two games, but whether that affects their mindset and approach for our game remains to be seen obviously - just pointing out its a possibility now after the dropped points today.

the way it's going the Dortmund match is their most important game left of the season. at the moment they have 8 games in April, after a very busy season already. their only real chance of appearing in the CL next season is to beat Dortmund, they won't get European football the way their season is going, so they will have 1 eye on that match.

does anyone know how many of their squad will have international matches? I found they have 5 in the England squad, and a few call ups. would be great to know that Coutinho is in the Brazil squad

No matter Liverpool will play a strong or weak team, I believe our players will give their 100%.

Yep! The whole media obsession with Liverpool, Klopp and the impending Dortmund reunion will hopefully cause more distraction. Their players looked to be flagging against Soton in the second half yesterday - not just talking about the end result - it looked like all the first half energy and pressing Klopp demanded took its toll as the game wore on. That squad will need more time under Klopp to get conditioned to the physical and mental requirements which makes a Klopp team.

We know we'll be giving everything we have, and we're physically and mentally conditioned to do it in Poch's 2nd season with the team, and with just the PL as a target. Think we're getting them at just the right time, and hope we take full advantage!

Before season begun, I said Wimmer will pip Vertonghen to starting XI by end of season. I am sure that is happening. No way I will drop him. Going by Pochettino selection, a performing player won't be dropped. Son was going good but gotherwise injured , he is still struggling to get his place back. So is Mason. Regardless of Vertonghen quality , can't see Wimmer being dropped.

I thought one of their games in hand was the derby against Everton?

I hope that now we are out of Europe we can play the best fullbacks every week rather than just rotate every game.

I have changed my mind so often as to who our best FB's are. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but I believe at this point in time we look a better team with Walker and Rose in it and I hope Poch now sticks with that providing they still keep playing well.

No way Liverpool will chuck this one, they consider themselves a bigger club than us (historically correct) and it will not be palletable to their support for them to rest players. Not to mention Klopp probably knows better than anyone how unlikely it is that they can beat Dortmund over two legs...
