Vicario
Pedro Porro* Romero VDV Udogie
Bissouma
Kulusevski Maddison
Johnson Richarlison Son

Yes, I am crazy.
*If fit. Took a late knock against Sheffield United. Again, blessed to have Emerson but Porro has been so, so good.

But thinking further about it, I could see an outside shout for Hojbjerg in that other 8 position to frustrate them in the middle of the park before hitting them with our impact subs late.

But seriously he may start the same XI again which I would also love

Wonderful ideas -- and lovely we have this flexibility, esp. to get Deki and Johnson on the pitch at the same time (and Deki in his preferred midfield slot).

But Ange won't change this time.

I imagine that being at home and having already played midweek they are going to want to do as much damage as possible 1st half so we are going to need to be well drilled and keep the ball as much as possible so same starting XI really is sensible.

Then we can change things later either if we need to score or when they will, hopefully, start to tire a little and we can exploit with Johnson's pace or Richarlison's physicality

lol OP's team is mad but mad in a way that i can respect. I'd go this. the added pace of johnson in behind, combined with Son, could be absolutely lethal against a team that will also want the ball

Vicario
Porro - Romero - VDV - Udogie
Sarr - Bissouma - Maddison
Kulusevski - Son - Johnson

For me, it's either a totally unchanged line up, or if we're feeling spicy, Johnson for Solomon.

But I'd stick to what has served us well for now. Happy either way.

Comparing to last year's line up:
- not having Lloris, Dier, Lenglet, PEH start...
- not playing 3 - 5 - 2, with Perisic at LWB, Emerson at RWB...
- having actual wingers who look to create...
- having Maddison, Bissouma, Udogie, VDV etc. added to the line up...
- knowing that we'll actually look to play football...

Is a novel joy. The line up looks immeasurably better and I go into games with a lot more enthusiasm and confidence.

Only a couple of stuffings in the next few games will change my perspective at this point, that being: it feels like we're moving in the right direction.

this is what I'd want to see ideally. Son and Johnson to put the fear in their defence of they try to press high. If they sit deep on us then that gives us territorial advantage.

If they go ahead and decide to sit in and hold it then Richarlison.

I'd stock with the same team. Soloman has been excellent, would be a massive slap in the face to drop him - especially for a new player who plays on the other side!

Keep Johnson as impact sub. Imagine it's 65m, you're the Arsenal defenders, starting to tire and Spurs bring on Johnson and Richarlison!

Johnson needs to play on the right if he starts. The real chance is to get in behind Zinchenko with pace, not white and Saliba. I would go unchanged and bring on johnson at 60 mins to cause problems with his pace and if we need a goal, move kulu to 8.

Has Brennan even started a single game on the left in his career?

New position + first start in a new team in a NLD doesn't sound great to me.
I don't think it would be an issue, his role would different to Solomon because he'd run in behind more.

I really think Johnson could be a big threat in this game and against Liverpool. We aren’t going to have as much of the ball (although we’ll still have plenty) and I think the game will be stretched. His pace in behind could be a huge weapon in these games.

Going unchanged though and Johnson as impact sub for this one and then a starting role against Liverpool.

Full backs are so important for this game. The last two three times we have played them there they have scored carbon copy goals through Saka and Martinelli. Stop their wide players and we are in with a shout. Looking forward to Udogie Vs Saka. And not so much Porro Vs Martinelli.

I understand the calls both for unchanged, and for getting Johnson included.

However, I would actually be looking to get Richarlison in for Solomon, and revert to the team we started with the first few matches.

I think we need to have someone who can seek to occupy Gabriel and Saliba, and we will need someone to hold the ball up from time to time. That said I'd be looking to give the license for Sonny and Kulusevski to try and get in behind in those full back areas.
