Harsh on Disco Benny though who has been more consistent and deserving of a place in the side than Bale for the 2nd half of last season and the start of this.

So many were calling for the 4-2-3-1 to be implemented against Arsenal and when he played the 4-4-2 people complained and said we were over-run in midfield. We play the 4-2-3-1 yesterday and still people complain this time saying we should have implemented the 4-4-2. Livermore showed signs of weakness in the midfield but he is still young and it has to be remembered that his interception set off Adebayor in the first half to run through for the penalty.

Bale did not play well yesterday, yes he is a brilliant player but he did not play anywhere near as good as he can do. People still look to Harry though and say it's his mis-management that was the problem. We have just won four games and drawn only one after a terrible start to the season. Newcastle do not get beat at home very often.

I think we just have to accept that there are people on here that are hell bent with arguing about Harry's inept management/tactics whenever we don't get 3 points. The same people that called for Jol's head after he had guided to two consecutive fifth place finishes for the first time in twenty odd years. Many of our fans just have a tendency to moan whatever way. When Harry does eventually leave and we find a so-called master tactician who will win us every game people are still going to complain and find faults.

I dare say, if we'd hung on for a 2-1 we wouldn't be hearing this.
I said from the start of the game and at 2-1 up even if we do manage to win this game we have gone about it the wrong way and could have made life alot easier for ourselves. Modric and Parker CM with 2 wingers would have torn them apart like for like 4-4-2 we are miles better on paper than they are, start getting VDV playing off the striker and Bale on the right weakens what on paper should be a far stronger outfit.

VDV got mullard on the right at arsenal... Seriously there is currently no answer... Apart from bloody gio?!?!?!? Who has done absolutley NOTHING to warrant a start on the right.
However I don't think Newcastles attacking threat is anywhere near that of Arsenals therfore VDV on the right may have been ok, and I thought in the UEFA cup Gio was very impressive.

Harry trying to accommodate players again!
Often it is said what Harry does well is keep things simple, round pegs in round holes etc and the last 4 games have pretty much been this. But today he tried to accommodate too many players and it didn't work.

Yes VDV scored but him off another striker just doesn't work as well as 4-4-2 as we have seen time and time again! I see the sense in Livermore for some muscle vs Newcastle but if it means playing one of the best CM's in the Prem LM and one of the best Left wingers Right wing then the benefit is very much lost!

We were under-par and it was annoying to throw away 3 points but I just think Harry got it wrong from the start. Lennon being is a bit of a problem i'll give him that, but Give Giovanni a start or play VDV on the right and the sooner Lennon is back or we get a right-winger the better 4-4-fucking-2 please!

P.S. I love Harry and all he has done but think he got it wrong today, the football didn't stick and even though it was a good move to bring on JD he really should have started.

I am fan of us playing 4-4-2...or at least 2 up front....But i got to be honest and say, as manyhave, i think the team selection was sound....equally whilst he tried Bale on the right, he also soon changed it...I also thought the Defoe sub was well timed and correct........

It is the managers job to try and get the best players playing.

Harsh? maybe so....But only 11 can play....and if it is the best 11, then so be it, life sometimes isnt fair.

I dare say, if we'd hung on for a 2-1 we wouldn't be hearing this.

oh if only that was true

We have to set up this way, we have to play that way, no mention of the opposition and how their play sometimes dictates you have to play from home. Sometimes you have to give a little to get a little, give them the opportunity to attack and then counter attack with their men out of position.

We drew, Walker went to sleep and Adebayor didn't pass to an unmarked Defoe to make it 3-1. Livermore didn't track his runner for their first goal.

Three incidents in the game cost us, nothing to do with tactics or personnel. A lack of vision at one end and a lack of concentration at the other, inexperience, it's that simple. In small details games rest. Newcastle never looked like winning.

As someone who is not a huge Kaboul fan I have to say well played fella, you are improving and you helped Bassong settle when you were in charge at the back.

Pure conjecture.
