Ange Postecoglou praised Richarlison after he ended his Premier League goal drought. The Brazilian scored twice in Spurs’ 4-1 win over Newcastle on 10 December, his first in the league since mid-September.

“Since he’s come back, fair to say he feels a lot better physically and I think that’s helped him mentally as well. Great for him to get two goals today but it wasn’t just his goals. I thought his general work rate, obviously his energy and physicality, was very good for us,” the Tottenham manager said.

It's a bit of a stretch to call it a "three-month" drought, considering he spent the last month of that recovering from surgery. Perhaps next August the Independent will announce him ending another three-month drought, after the summer break ends.

Hopefully he will be able to score more consistently now that he isn't soldiering on with an injury. It's certainly useful to have him back with all the other attacking absences.

Looked like he was up for it yesterday and had some decent moments during build up. Think the main plus point was his closing down in the press and managed to harass the defence without crossing the line into being a wind-up merchant.

I'm not getting carried away by the goals as the first was a (relatively) simple finish after good work from Sonny and the 2nd was only possible due to him having a terrible first touch... (sorry if that's controversial :bag: ). Hopefully it lifts his confidence and we can start to see a more switched on and confident Richy going forward

He looked good yesterday. Richy and Kulu were doing some great work together in the middle creating turn overs that lead to some good attacking opportunities.

His injury was clearly holding him back. Questionable whether he will be first choice in the long term but at least we should see a better, more potent player in the immediate future.

He seems to be a confidence player so hopefully those two goals will get him going.

Even if he’s not the long-term answer, we do at least know that he can score goals in this league. Even though he was never prolific, he scored consistently for Everton.

If we can get ten or so league goals out of him that could make a big difference to our season.

Terrible first touch that took him the only place that would stretch the keeper and away from his defender.

Terrible.

His career to date is a smattering of impactful performances, impressive goals and short purple patches....interspersed between underwhelming performances and intermittent goal scoring. Even on Sunday, despite a strong performance and two goals, he failed to put away a header that Kane would have scored 9/10 times (missed the ball, let-alone the target), and blasted another reasonable chance into the stands. Against West Ham, he failed to hit the target with a relatively straightforward header, from a situation that was almost identical to at least a couple of headers that he missed last season.
I don't know what his xG was across those two games, but I suspect it was higher than the 3 goals he scored, and I also suspect that this is a pattern that spans his career. Conversely, Kane and Son have both consistently exceeded their xG throughout their careers. Richarlison doesn't need to finish as consistently as either of them, but he doesn't need to finish more consistently. I'm honestly not sure whether confidence or technique is his primary issue.
