We already knew this boy was good. After watching the Eredivisie in anticipation of his arrival it bacame obvious that he was going to be a class signing.

However, Its only in recent weeks that fans of other clubs have noticed him.

He has even been described to me as the best CB in the league at the moment.

I cant help but fear for us keeping him. Its not me being small minded, I just feel that Barcelona will be looking at him and he could be swayed to move.

Like Gica Popescu all over again

Amazing player. Love how composed he always look, and how he always burst forward or stay up if we are behind taking responsability like the natural leader he is!

Edit: sadly i can also see a top team forking out big money for him sooner rather than later. He would walk straight into barcas starting eleven.

im worried that barcelona will be shopping for exactly his type in the summer.

I dont beleive that keeping Bale will be the hardest thing, Super Jan could be

He gave an interview pre season and one of the questions was why have you signed for a club if they're not in the CL. His reply was you don't sign for a club for one year. He went on about only seeing the best of a player once he's settled in for a few seasons.

It was something like that anyway. Whatever it was, it made me smile/jizz and made me think he's not going anywhere for a long time.

I agree though, he's exactly the type of player who would fit in with ease at Barca, his class has always been apparent but after a few months of swapping positions and playing through winter for the first time, we're really seeing just how fucking godly a player he is.

Altogether now....

Great signing and beginning to look as useful in the opposition penalty area.

He must have got 5 or 6 goals already. Is he the highest scoring defender as well?

He may well be Barca quality but Carles has just signed a new contract and the man is an absolute machine! He's like a Catalan Ryan Giggs without having the need to boff D List celebrities

He's been carrying our side, take away his goals and we're nothing. Oh wait....that was Bale. Or Sandro was our only good player. Or Dembele. Haha love it. The guy could probably be a 20 goal a year striker let alone a top notch CB.

Can we just not enjoy our top class players for once without speculating that they will automatically leave after a good year?

And yet against Inter there was a bloke behind me slagging him off and again at Liverpool ! I do wonder if they do it to get a reaction from those around them or they really are just thick as pig shit. He's been solid these last few weeks and scoring which is always a bonus.

4 league goals so far, plus one in the cup. To be honest I'm surprised that nobody has noted the fact that he has now scored twice as many league goals as Ade ffs!

Totally agreed, and I honestly don't think he would be thinking of leaving any time soon anyway. He has commented several times about how he really wanted to join Spurs, about how much he has enjoyed it since he arrived, about what we are trying to and capable of achieving, and about how good AVB is. I really do think people are underestimating how important AVB may well be in keeping hold of our best players.

Exactly- others have said the same- holtby for one said AVB was key in him signing for us over other offers. So far this season we have had lloris, sandro, bale (every single day), Kaboul, walker and now verts leaving discussions- they can't all go to Madrid and Barcelona and it doesn't always work out when they do

Every time one of our players excels people start worrying about them moving on. It won't happen when a player has only been with us a matter of months. We are building a team and they know that

Only a year into his contract, Levy would demand at least £20m for starters and Barca (for example) don't tend to spend big money on defenders. Alba was £14m (I think) and that was considered a lot.

listen, Im as optimistic as the next man. I still treat Spurs as one of the Elite.

But I do worry that Barcelona are looking for exactly this type of player, and he is the best
