Must be humiliating for his girlfriend being in the papers.

Obviously what he did was massively wrong but I do find it funny reading that she was bragging about how she was going to perform oral and now she's claiming how wrong it all is bla bla. She is definitely not a victim in this imo.

Sounds to me like another Graham Rix type situation. What a prat to be that well off with a beautiful girlfriend and great career just to throw it away for that.

Yes. These laws exist for the outliers but they are laws all the same I suppose. No getting around it, as under the law consent is simply not possible even if it was given at the time and she wasn't a brain dead puppet controlled by an evil puppeteer. She couldn't consent the rest of society has declared. Could have simply waited a few more months and all he'd get is some odds looks and maybe some social ostracizing from his wider social circle and she would have miraculously been fully able and mentally cogent to take part. Monumentally stupid thing to do on his part.

Why couldn't he fib a little on his tax return? Like normal people.

Christ.....would u be saying the same if that was your daughter?
Well, it very much depends on his daughter doesn't it? If she was a thumb-sucking, teddy bear-clutching innocent, no doubt some at 15 are still like that, I doubt it. @Hoops would likely be fucking livid.

She could have been someone else's 15 year old daughter, like the delightfully kind and supple soul who took my virginity. I was the younger, sexually taken advantage of party here before any captain save-a-ho decides to virtue signal.

I do find it crazy how the law treats men and women differently though. There was that male teacher who ran off to France with that girl who was 15 and he was in the media for weeks, possibly months and given a jail sentence. On the flip side, there's a whole host of female teachers who have slept with male teenagers and they get off with community service and the media barely mentions it!

Indeed. Laws are rarely perfect but as long as everyone, regardless of background, gender etc, are treated equally under them then all is good. Or as good as is possible in the imperfect world we all exist in.

It does seem remarkable that after the last few years of incessant and constant fucking nagging about how men and women are equal and identical in every conceivable way, women are, whenever it suits a small slice of the more hysterical uber-lefty hipsters, no more than simpleton children incapable of making any decisions about anything. And these people claim they are fighting for the rights of women to be strong and independent, as is their natural state. Something is getting lost in translation here.

But then, identity politics and the like was never meant to make any sense I suppose. What ideology is ever coherent?

To be fair, he was an adult who took a child to another country without the wishes of her parents - kidnapping.

Spoken like a true feminist.

Feminism: Trying to destroy the patriarchal (I guess, their actions make zero fucking sense otherwise) idea women are strong and capable moral beings in control of their own destinies since, well, the start of the internet I guess.

Wow. They should be charging him with that really. That's a huge crime but then some still have this vaguely religious hangover about anything sexual (other than lights off and mish), this could have involved two consenting 30-somethings and some would squirm in their seats.

Still, he'll have some time to truly reflect on what a spanner he's been soon enough I imagine.

Sexuality is always going to be an incredibly difficult subject when you're talking about the law. People can argue all day about the age of consent, and what makes one an adult etc, but the fact is it's 16, and you mess about with minors you really deserve everything coming to you, IMO.

No argument here. Just a bit surprised that more hasn't been made of the kidnapping thing in addition. That's a fairly mahoosive crime. Or maybe it has but the papers know any hint of PIV sells copy like nothing else and have not bothered to cover that aspect much. I had no idea he'd taken her across borders etc.
