The City game is up on Spursplay. Link is on the main Spurs site front page or scroll down to the bottom of the Spursplay page.

Notice Gunter is in the official squad released by the club but Keeley is not. Has Luca jumped ahead of him do we think?

Also Devine and Scarlett are listed but White and Parrot are not.

Of course it could just be that our admins are a bit rubbish.

Keeley, being Irish, might not count as homegrown yet. He can play for the U21s and go out on loan but there's no point him taking up a non-homegrown spot in the squad when he's 4th/5th choice.

The rumour was that White and Parrott are surplus and can leave.

Surely the squad on the OS is irrelevant at the moment as the prem lge squad is not officially named till 1st Sep when the transfer window has closed.
Keeley is under 21 so would not count in the numbers as are all under 21.

Nationality is irrelevant as to whether a player qualifies as U21 for Premiership purposes. Hence Udogie and Sarr don’t take up places in the 25 man squad. Which is why it is potentially interesting that Gunter has had a squad number announced but Keeley hasn’t.

However I suspect that for the squad numbers announced the OS have just included players who boarded the plane for the Barcelona friendly. Hence Gunter, Devine and Scarlett listed but not Keeley, White or Parrot.

If so we might come to regret that. If we qualify for European competition next season we will need four club trained players over the age of 21 in order to be able to register our full complement of non-homegrown players. Currently we have Skipp, Tanganga, Austin, Whiteman, White and Lyons-Foster, with Parrot making the cut next season. I could be wrong but from memory I don’t believe anyone else in the development squad is quite old enough. If I’m right then we will need to hang onto four from that group going into next season, which at the moment is looking problematical.

Maybe where possible we should be looking to loan rather than sell, in the hope that one of them shows his worth.

Surely we should not keep players who are surplus for requirements just to fulfill this European criteria. We may not fill complete register but would rather supplement bench with U21's who we still want to those over 21 that are not.

Again it just gives you a bloated squad.

Yeah, keeping players just to use the spot, when you can use the spot with someone that doesn't even need to take up a spot does seem a bit mad. White needs a move and to properly start his career at his age, and if Parrot isn't going to make it here then there's no point in him standing in the way of Scarlett, Donley, Soonsup-Bell etc.

Agree that we don’t need players clogging up the squad , which is why I have edited my post, to suggest that with the likes of Tanganga, White and Parrot we should ideally loan this season to see if they can prove their worth.

I think you’re missing the point. They wouldn’t just be filling a homegrown spot, they would be giving us an extra non-homegrown spot. Unless the UEFA rules have changed you can’t have the full complement of non-homegrown players unless you have the full complement of homegrown players.

Incidentally Soonsup-Bell wouldn’t be a UEFA B list free pick. He would need to be registered as an association trained player.

Yes you can. If you only have 7 (for example) meeting the homegrown rules, then your squad size - excluding List B - is reduced to 24. You still have 17 non-homegrown positions available.

It seems you’re right! With the rule has changed or I misunderstood it. Well that’s embarrassing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Veliz start some games for the U21's after Ange's most recent comments.

https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/paratici-tottenham-ndombele-dier-munn-27516043
If Paratici had hoped Veliz could make a quick impact at Tottenham then the Australian made that clear that would not happen. "It will be a while for him, I think. We've just got to let him settle, he's come halfway around the world," said the Spurs head coach. "He's a young guy, it's a fairly different level. He's one we'll invest in in the long-term but I wouldn't expect him to see any minutes in the first part of the season."

Same for Phillips I imagine. Have them training with the 1st team, featuring for the U21s and maybe get some minutes in the cup games and then maybe reassess in January.

I don't think there is much age difference between Philips and Dorrington. Perhaps some U21 football toegther is a good thing but they do need to play some football othwrwise we will in the same hole we have been in with many of our younger players over the last few years.

Really want Troy to find a home and fulfill his potential. I feel the club has to let him go at this stage. and likel h e same with Harvey who is too good to be an also ran not involved in matchday squads in the first team squad here.
