Didn’t realise a player on a pro contract in the football league could go on a trial at another club outside of a window. Maybe he isn’t on a full pro contract yet.
Southend are not in the football league, they're in the National League.

Does that matter ? It’s effectively division 5 ?
Different governing bodies with different rules. There's unlikely to be rules about non-league players having trials at league clubs even if they were on professional contracts.

Phil brown October 7th Southend manager. Talking about Sayers.

“I’ve not always had the benefit of that because we’ve always sold them on but where Charlie is concerned his dad looks after him which is a great shout.

“He hasn’t got an agent which is also a great shout so all he’s got is the manager’s voice in his ear and hopefully he’s here for a long time.”

Brown was sacked 2 days later.

See Coops, I knew you would get it!

In my defence I edged my bets with the funny rating.

You see, to some. Taking a flyer could mean to take a risk, or a bit of a gamble.

While to others, it could mean you've taken some awesome drugs that tend to realign your thought process and make mental statements, such as the one @kursaal made about the mighty shrimpers.

Not that i'd know anything about the latter option.

You would need some mightily powerful drugs to make any positive statement about the 'mighty shrimpers' at present!! I was actually referring to a 70's pub rock band (think Dr Feelgood and Eddie and the Hot Rods) called 'The Kursaal Flyers'!

Wow I was well wide of the mark.

Then again. I was only born in 1975 so I'm giving myself the benefit of doubt here.

Winger @JneilBennett1 has returned to #thfc after an ankle injury ruled him out of the rest of his loan deal @crewealexfc The 19 year old has made 11 appearances since joining Crewe on loan until January, but he has suffered an ankle injury that could keep him out until February.
