Assuming Nathan Ferguson (West Brom) only 19. Can play left/ right back, out of contract end of season. IMO looks very good, assume end of KWP if we do go for him though.

Playing v Swansea on Sky now.
He is f*ng mustard! We desperately need such a kind of sinning. Young and hungry.

@edson @IGSpur

what do you make of cesay? does he move well with and without the ball for a tall guy or is he a bit awkward looking?

I know edson prefers him at RB, but I actually really liked him at CM yesterday. I think he looks quite natural on the ball and has a really good engine and is fairly calm. But I don't think he has the ability to be particularly effective at RB.

Should have been a easy win today but we did not finish our chances,Chay Cooper is having a very good season and he should have had two goals today, don't know if you noticed today but I think Cooper has found a bit of extra pace and he is looking a bit faster of late?

I did think he looked quite nippy today. As you say we should have buried our chances.

As a follow up to my half time post.

I think we had the better chances overall. When we were 2 nil up we looked too comfortable as if victory would be a given at that point. Once Lusala gave the pen, I think we couldn't get ourselves back into the gear we needed. But in saying that still created some chances that should've been tucked away.

Equaliser was unlucky as we had 10 men on the pitch for last 10mins due to an injury and they countered.

Jose will give more chances to the youth players than Pochettino ever did.

Well I hope so but I don't want him to do what he did at United which was give players a debut but none of them actually became a regular starter in the first team. Because actually Pochettino did give a lot of players their debuts. But the criticism is only Winks went from newbie to regular starter. Ryan Mason technically played four times pre-Poch but he was already 23 by the time Poch joined and ended up becoming a regular for a while. You got to credit Poch for that. He turned Kane into a beast. Again, credit has to go for Poch. On the flip-side if Mourinho turns Skipp into a beast for us then credit goes to Mourinho because Mourinho is now in control of his development.

You might remember when he joined United one of the issues he was asked was he didn't develop academy players and he came with a list of 49 players he gave debuts to, but only a few actually made more than a dozen appearances. Then at United only McTominay became somewhat of a first team player but even he only became a regular under OGS. It might shock people but Onomah made more appearances for us than McTominay did for United under Mourinho. If you look at redcafe a lot of them blame him for wasting the talent LVG brought through and that he treated the youth as a vanity thing because on one occasion he subbed on a goalkeeper at the end on an FA Cup tie. It's sort of like, what was the point of that besides adding another name to the list even if he never touched the ball?

Sounds strange after getting beat but Reading for me was one of weaker teams I have seen this year so far at home.

Was watching Cooper in the warm-up sprints before the Liverpool match and he is a stronger runner now than he was last year.

Dennis Cirkin should not be playing u18 football because physically it is a bit too easy for him and he was walking through players.

Regarding Cesay the reason I like him at RB is because he works so well with Cooper and it is more of a team balance thing for me plus I think Cesay is a hard player to beat one on one.

Is he primarily a right or left back though?

How many of those played one game and were never seen again?

Read my post above. I made that point --- Pochettino gave a lot of debuts but only Winks went from total rookie to first team regular. Giving a debut is not giving a youth player a chance and judging by Mourinho's track record at other clubs doesn't leave me with optimism but if he bucks the trend at our club I'll be the first to sing his praises.

Fair enough.

Regarding Nathan Ferguson who has been mentioned numerous times in here. His contract is up in the summer so I fully expect us to offer a fee in January. Ferguson has a great deal of potential and is that rare breed of full back who.loves defending.

In the long term I think Ferguson and Sessegnon would offer us the balance at full back that Mourinho is currently deploying.

onomah made more appearances yes (34 vs 31) but less than half the minutes (807 vs 1654). mctominay started 11 pl games including big games against the likes of chelsea and liverpool as well as a cl knockout game away to sevilla so he was well trusted by mourinho. onomah played in a lot of games but it's misleading as the majority were for 5-10 minutes and the main bulk of those were in the cups.

i'm not under any illusion that jose is suddenly going to change his ways after all these years but he's not got to do much to better poch in this department. it's not even about "giving them chances" either, as long as he doesn't block them from going down other avenues to get experience then he's already doing better than poch in my book.

Agreed. Loaning players out would be an improvement already.

Just to remind everyone that Poch started with this team against Apoel at home when we already qualify. Then subbed on KWP just because of Rose injury and brought on Sterling @88th min. So Mourinho's team against Bayern can't be worse.

Don’t players have to be listed to be involved for Bayern. Bowden and White are only listed outside main squad.

U21 players that have been with us for at least two years can be listed just ahead of the game.
They go on a B list, while the 25 man squad is the A list
