I don’t agree.
I’m not sure we all knew that they still had the mental character to win these tough type of games.
The whole squad has dropped its intensity.
They needed this kind of scenario to prove to themselves that they actually have a backbone.
I don’t think they realised they could do this type of fight, until they got exposed to it today.

The sending off and eventual victory is worth far more than £50,000 worth of sports motivation/psychology talks.
This was exposure therapy at its best.

The best thing that could have happened today. Worth it’s weight in gold.
Thank you Serge Aurier. Thank you.

You don't get much for 50.000 these days!

Kane looks like he’s getting back to his best. Outstanding today and took his goal so well.

Really needed that type of game, IMO. Team needed to prove to themselves they had the mentality. Especially after bottling it against Arsenal and Olympiacos. Poch made a game changing sub. Hard win but an absolutely massive one that will hopefully get us back on track.

Didn’t get to watch today and just followed the thread. The fact that it was only 36 pages at the whistle is a good sign for how we must’ve looked.

For the idiots among us who unreasonably hate on Erik Lamela for no reason, this game should shut you all up.

He's a tough bastard with an elite mentality. He dragged us through that half.

Tbh I think most of those guys died off about a year ago. In this forum at least anyway.
There's maybe 1 or 2 lurking still in the cult

Let me clarify. ONE shot on the second half, would have been beaten comfortably had it not been for Lloris, chaotic at the back and going forward. I think that sums it up. It was painful to watch. Even taking a corner ended up being a challenge.

3 pts yes, but it was by the skin of our teeth. Against Southampton
Down to ten men from half an hour in against a very good footballing team, Sissoko having to play out of position at RB. All of this with shattered confidence and question marks over the manager and the intentions of certain players.

To win it this way answered WAY more questions than outright beating them 2-0/3-0.

Of course one shot in the second half. We were winning with 10 men. Would be naive to open ourselves up at 2-1

Lloris made a few good saves (2), that maybe saved us a little bit but then he give them a goal out of nothing. As the game wore on we completely nullified their threat. After the mistakes we were very good defensively, probably one of our best defensive performances in a while.

Can we convert Sissoko to RB. Absolute boss after Aurier went off.

He did well, but he is no RB.
A couple of times he didnt track players running into dangerous positions.
And a bit like Aurier, he looks like he could give away a pen at any time as they both like to dive in.

Did well today as cover, but not a long term answer imo

There's a few who might want to reflect on their reaction to Poch subbing him on for Son. Was the perfect sub in hindsight.

Yeah good point, him picking up the ball and turning towards goal, leaning into players and using his strength and such was like the Kane of old. Probably would have been even more effective on the pitch today with more players around him.

A word for Hugo btw. Had a howler in the first but came right back in the second half with a flawless display marked by 2 stunning saves. Tale of 2 halves for him.

Kane was fucking brilliant in that second half. He was everywhere. Back to leading the press and holding up the ball brilliantly. The shot that went just passed the post was signs of 2017 Harry.

When we had 11 men he was dangerous and getting us going which no one in our team (unfortunately) can quite do like him. Yes he lost the ball a bit second half but he was often playing highest up the pitch and hold up play is never his thing is it? Lost the ball less than Ndombele as well.

He's not at his best but then neither is the team. I thought he was at it and was clearly fired up by Kane's goal so there's a bit of fire there as well. I get he;s the scapegoat and deserves some of that but today was one of his better performances I thought.

I agree he was good whilst we had XI men... shame he was very poor the last 65 mins. Lamela and Dier both looked a lot more up for it than Eriksen did and should have been on a lot sooner when we needed backs ot the wall.
