For me Bentancur is the perfect 8. Great presser, good for the odd goal, good link-up play in tight spaces.

Bissouma is the obvious 6 for me. Our most press-resistant midfielder, great defensively and ideal for ticking the ball over without giving it away. He's also a bit crap going forward so is wasted high up the pitch.

Love Bentancur but he has the odd game where his passing is off the boil and he gives it away sloppily. Don't like that in a 6.

If Bissouma is injured then we drop Bentancur back to 6 and play Sarr as the 8.

I think his passing is better than Both Bissoma and Hjobjerg, he covers ground effortlessly, turns on a sixpence.

He's the best 6 at the club, you just don't know it yet.

He's definitely a more creative passer than Bissouma but he's less consistent at making the simple passes. Would prefer to have a more creative passer and better attacker nearer the opposition box, personally.

Bissouma had 90% pass completion last season (97th percentile) compared to Bentancur's 84% (66th percentile)...and that was a pretty shit season for Bissouma.

Enjoyed the game and so did my 8 year old. Now stuck at Stansted waiting for my delayed flight home..... Joys!

Just watched the game after avoiding the result all day. Aside from the obvious weakness at the back, we look really really good going forward.

Haven't caught up on any transfer business today, but nice to see Kane get four if it was to be his last home game. Very fitting.

Hope it isn't, because Maddison is looking sharp and raring to go. No goals, but Kulu and Sonny look up for it as well.

Delighted for Dane. Wonderful finish from the boy.

Enjoying watching us kick a ball again. Beautiful.

Nothing really surprising, but you can see why getting a super fast LCB is so important.

It's amazing how people see different games.

I thought PEH was class today, I think we'd be absolutely foolish to sell him.

For me I'd play Bissouma, Hoijberg and Maddison against Brentford. It'd be Bissouma as the 6 and PEH as the 8, but either way would be fine.

Nothing against Sarr who is going to be a star.
PEH is terrible.

Hojbjerg was great today so hope that was sarcasm? He broke up play often and set up the move for Kane's third.
He was genuinely very good. I can see why we'd sell him if we want the money for other moves, but you'd definitely keep as many of this midfield that we already have as we can justify imo and give them a season to sort it out, as making it a 3 and adding Maddison has made it about the strongest area on the pitch when Bentancur gets back, both in terms of first 11, and cover.

He pressed in the midfield, never let up and put us on the front foot a lot in the second half by doing so. I wouldn't be against keeping him if nobody makes a decent offer (sorry Hojbjerg haters).

Yeah whether you like PEH or not I think there's no denying he's a fantastic squad player to have since he's always fit, can cover multiple positions and has a great attitude.

I think now's the time to cash in but if, as you say, we don't get a decent offer he'd be well worth keeping around as a backup/rotation option. Maybe we sell in Jan once Bentancur is fit or get like 12-15m for him next summer instead?

If Kane goes and Richarlison isn't fit for next Sunday I'd imagine itl'll be Sonny through the middle.

Maybe: ?

Ange speaking to Spurs Play now: top bloke. When asked how was that: “that’s ok, it’s still on me that we are working out a way to play. If you want to be this kind of team you have to be this kind of team all the time: relentless”.
He said he was annoyed with us trying to "see out the first half" and that's not what we do now as we should be relentless til the whistle. But blamed himself for not getting the message across. We obviously conceded as a result of trying to see the half out and not pressing

Shakhtar were standing around for a full five minutes before we appeared for the second half. I guess Ange was getting his point across.

Funny that we didn’t need a ‘complete overhaul’ of players to play attacking possession based football, like some were claiming when we were getting linked to Enrique, Slot etc… earlier in the summer 😂

Meant to post yesterday but that's the first live game I've seen us play this year. So nice to see the pressing back again.

Standout players

Udogie - extremely calm on the ball, dominant defensively and mobile great signing.

Royale - most improved player by far from his early days. Feel sorry for Porro but he shouldn't get a look in right now.

Maddison - going to do good things with us. We've missed a player like this post eriksen.

Sarr - looks to be a real player in this system, composed, good work rate, nice passing and lovely coordination for the effort on goal.

Kane - don't sell him, one more year with us all knowing hes off at the end and cheer him to a golden boot and trophy at the end of the year. The drop off from kane will be vast with any player but especially in this club.

Gonna be a wild season but I'm looking forward to it.

took my son Kane (5) to his first game yesterday, absolutely buzzing he got to see his favourite player score 4 goals. Would have been gutted if he never got to see him live. Especially after i had convinced him he was going just to see Richy do a pigeon dance.
