On buildup, our defence to attack is so disjointed it's not funny at all.

Totally agree with you. An average DM is better than a very good CM trying to play DM. It's amazing how often we see this. England had this for years with Gerrard / Lampard. Wenger's Arsenal ceased being competitive because they never adequately replaced Silva and Wenger refused to play with a DM etc.
