We played some good football in the middle of that half, for 15-20 minutes. The first goal was just a good goal.

Then, around 35 minutes, we had one of those inexplicable periods where every loose, bobbling or bouncing ball would go directly to a Liverpool player, leading to sustained pressure.

Then, just as it looked like we’d weathered that, Dier had a brain-fart and the game was pretty much gone. If Liverpool have any sense, they’ll camp out, hog the ball and pick us off at will.

Yes. Davies can't get to grips with Salah, Lenglet is hesitant to come out with Firmino and Dier is being run ragged by long balls out to Nunez. The three of them are all weak in the tackle, place headers into Liverpool players feet and are a soft touch.

The poor performing ones mainly are not Conte's players. His players are playing fine and in fact very well - Bentancur, Kulu, Richy even Bissouma will be. If we changed Dier, Davies, Emerson, Sanchez and Sess to his players, we can definitely improve.

This is the thing though. People are bashing Conte for this kind of thing but his Inter team were superb at playing around it.

But we don't have Handanovic, Hakimi, Skriniar and Bastoni

We don't have those players. The tactic must adjust to the qualities of the team. Trying to sit back and absorb and then play out of the back with this group is suicidal but we keep doing the same thing.
