The drop in quality when our subs came on was very alarming today.

But of the 5 or 6 players who simply aren't good enough, I thought Skipp did okay today.
At this point - it's not alarming. We know the drop-off is there.

Hopefully, we can get through January unscathed, and then we get players returning from injury, and international tournaments - and then our bench will look pretty strong.

The only real need for January is a CB - as we don't have the depth, even when we have a full squad.

But, when Bentancur and Maddison are back (along with Sarr and Bissouma) - CM is sorted for the rest of the season. Hojbjerg and Skipp will be lucky to get off the bench, and 1 might not even make the bench in some matches.

Same with forwards - Solomon, Son, Richi, Kulusevski and Johnson are plenty of depth.

If we can get a player in on January 1 - that makes sense, but adding depth on January 31 makes less sense.

So we're back to grinding out results when needed instead of losing games we should have won. What's bad about that?
Should have been up by three/four by half an hour, just as the west ham and villa games. But this time we held on.

Nice three points against a team very much in form. I'll take that anytime.

Just got home and think quite a lot of our players can feel proud of themselves. Royal at LB, Dier at CB did really well, Davies continues to impress and Vic was great.

Not a comfortable watch and if Danjuma had his shooting boots it could have been very different. But he didn’t and it wasn’t.

Think today showed great resilience and character with a very patched together side.

The concern I guess is we lose Son and Sarr soon too so that's another 2 gone for a month. If we can get 1 or 2 first teamers back for Jan we could be ok. We're really being tested but to dig out another win today is a great sign. I really hope we get an early January signing though. Keep ourselves near the top come February and we could be cooking as we get players back.

Couldnt have moaned if we drew or lost that game, but thats where the team is at, at the minute. We will play well some matches and not so well in others.

Realistically how many of those that finished that game will be here in a year or two?

Thought the effort was there, just not so much ability today. We'll take it though, onwards and upwards.

Lost? Wtf..

First half we were excellent, for most of it.

Romero coming off affected our abilty to build from the back.

We were also very wasteful, Son in particular.

Kulu had a big chance for 3 nil.

They certainly had their chances but fuck we didnt deserve to lose this lol.

If you think the score is all that matters then you're mistaken. Top teams look to improve regardless of the score. I'm sure Ange will feel the same way. I don't see it as people moaning, well not many are anyway. We just want to see us cut out the silly mistakes. 1 goal for them and it's game on.

Ultimately the score is all that matters. I am not mistaken.

Thanks for guessing as well how Ange will feel, you sure know stuff.

Was Romero hamstring injury...did Ange confirm it?

Guy in the Spurs shop seemed to think it was lol

If they miss all of January that's only 2 league games.

The other two off the top of my head was johnson hitting his effort into the stands from Royal Cross and son choosing sarr instead of Johnson during the 3 v 2 (or 3?)

no amount of defensive structure can cover poor first touches and telegraphed passes
Ive tried to explain this to my dad who said the coaches need to work on them defensively.

Nope. We were vulnerable because we couldn't play through and our players on the pitch are not so good at defending space.

Romero and VdV excell at both of those factors

Couldn’t go today but well chuffed with 3 points against an in form team.
3 of our top 4 midfielders missing and second half 3 of 4 first choice back line too. We’d have folded in those circumstances past 3 years.

Considering the teams above us in the League only picked up a point….and we picked up 3, then that’s a decent weekend for me.

But let’s hope for more polished performances in 2024….and a few cheeky decent signings.

Plus Brighton, Newcastle & Man Utd all dropped points

Jesus what's wrong with you? people had a right to criticize elements of our game today. That doesn't take away from the result which of course is the most important thing. Nobody has suggested that and nobody is upset with the result. You seem to be the only one making more of a deal out of it. I just don't get this idea that you can't criticize when we're playing poorly just because we're winning. That's all it is, nothing wrong with wanting to do better and yes I do believe Ange will feel that way as well. No need for the sarcasm. I mean wasn't Bill Nic famous for being critical even when we won games? That's what separates the top managers from the rest. No need to be a dick about it just because you don't agree.

Indeed it's not the worst scenario next month although we do need to go seriously in the FA Cup and try win the 3rd and then if so the 4th round after that

Ange is reasonable. He will not be happy but he will also realise these players are limited and it's a case of hanging on til we get some back.

If our key players put in this performance then every bit of criticism would be warranted.

Smashing to win and that first goal was a peach. Johnson might be a star player at some point if the penny drops for him. He's got everything except the eye of the tiger and it's a shame he didn't have a season of hanging around Harry Kane to understand what it takes to not pass up glorious chances. I hope he realises he's got that chance to be one of the very best, but needs to finish clutch moments.

Next one away to Brighton should be good. They'll have a good go at us so it should be end-to-end stuff.
