I'm not worried yet, we're creating good enough chances, just none of the rebounds have gone our way. It was always going to be a grind.

Not the half I envisioned!

Worried now but there's still a whole half left. Just hope it doesn't get to 80 or so minutes with us still not having scored.

Son and Lucas should be running at them IN the penalty box, try and draw a challenge for a pen perhaps, no point getting there then passing it all the way back out to the FB!

But when they inevitably get crowded out and lose the ball against the 7 defenders in the box will you be yelling at them to stop be so bumbling?

I love Dele but his slowing down of the game is frustrating at times, takes all the pace and tempo out of our attacks. No one looking to break the lines, games like this we really miss Dembele and his ability to drive and take 2 or 3 players out of position

It doesn’t help when Rose and Trippier run so far, grind to a halt on the edge of their box and lay the ball off... cross the damn thing, we’ve a man mountain in Llorente in box, use him.

Hope they tire and lose concentration second half especially after the battering they had at Wolves

Frustrating half but I'm not sure why some people are slagging us off. We've done everything we can to try and break them down - crosses; patient build up; fast break...

And we've had several goalline clearances - so we are breaking through.

Not sure what else we're supposed to do against this wall of Brighton players.
I just think we expect our players to have a few ideas how to break teams like this down, at times we camped in there half, with 5 players sat behind the ball, the fullbacks aren't really getting forward due to son and moura being so wide, we should be playing 2 up for me, llorente isn't offering anything. Wanyama is redundant against a side sat so deep purposely time wasting

Tough against a team that has well and truly parked the bus, but I don't think we've been patient enough at times and tried to earn the openings.

Not really getting what the front three are doing in particular. I can understand getting Son/Moura on either flank away from the packed centre of the park, nice to see us trying it actually, but from there both of them are doing.... well, very little tbh. Not making any threatening runs off the flank towards the box (like you'd see from Sterling for instance), just holding it, not really taking on their men with much purpose, and all too often now dropping in front of Brighton's defensive lines to pick up the ball, which isn't what is needed. Llorente hasn't been great so far but is trying to lead the line and is up against a minimum of three players each time.

Surprised we haven't at least tried Son/Moura to come infield and get in and around Llorente (with Alli bursting through too), and fullbacks overlapping. It might not work against a packed defence, but have to keep varying the attack and trying things out in these sorts of games.
I just don't understand what our plan of attack is. All teams work drills. E.g. with City you can see that they constantly work "FIFA" goals where they get it down the line and pass it back into the box. It's their signature attacking move.

I'll be fucked if I know what ours is, other than hope Son conjures a wonder goal.

Our use of the ball is just not clever enough against this sort of defending so we're relying on individual brilliance individual errors or a precise cross finding one man against three.

Need to do more to move then around even if it's just moving it side to side with some fucking urgency.

We need someone to have a bit of balls and run at them, there are free kicks in them as we've seen already.

Moura did it a little early on, he's faded out of it again.

The delivery to Llorente has been poor to be fair. Moura’s crossing way off the mark up until now...

My biggest worry is when Verts and Toby get sucked up into the attack at the same time. Twice ricochets have put them in space and us scrambling to defend.
Always happens when they try the impossible or a shot with no chance. Stick to your tasks lads it will come.

I wish we'd name some of our attacking youth players on the bench rather than pick so many defensive options.

I'd like to see Rose & Trippier get in behind their backline a lot more in the second half. We'll definitely get breakthrough from out wide. We need to stretch them a lot more.

Move the ball quicker would be a good starting point

This is just woeful, lots of possession but so slow and cant get through their defence (remember they conceded 5 recently at home)
we have to pick up the pace and our forwards need to up their games and take a chance.
we need to score early 2nd half or this could get messy
we must win this tonight, anything less than 3 points will be criminal
