It's not just about land value though, it's inconvenience, loss of earnings during relocation, etc...You reckon that the Archway site is worth a few million at least? Seems a tad optimistic for them to expect that much.
IIRC I think I read somewhere we'd already offered them circa £4m in a last ditch attempt to avoid this protracted saga.
Won't the costs include court time as well though? So that factors in the estate overheads, the Judge's wages, expert opinion, the stenographer, blah blah blah....On the flip side, re the second hand itk above, I find it hard to believe that Archway's costs thus far have amounted to £700K. That seems grossly excessive. Costs incurred prior to this appeal will have been modest. And as expensive as the services of a QC are, they're nothing like THAT expensive!
