alright everyone. i'm visiting KL over from Korea next week as the Asian Gaelic Games are on. I know it's on at a late time, but is there any hope of catching the Maribor game on anywhere? Saturday's game against Southampton is probably out as I'll be busy with tournament goings on.

So that's why Kendall moved from Australia to KL! Thought it didn't make sense...

I played in the AGG in '08. Fun sport (Gaelic Football, not hurling thats CRAY). Maybe Al Jazeera? When I lived there, I had to wake up at 2:55 most times and the games were mostly always on. Think there was one or two games out of all the Euro games that they didn't show live.

Loads of mamak stalls will show it, I imagine. It's on satellite telly. Most bars and pubs will be shut though as it's on so late.

I may well pop down for the AGG as I know several of the guys involved. Geoff Siddle is a co-organiser and it's Sids Pubs, his chain, where the Spurs Malaysia group and I watch our games. Lovely bloke and cracking pubs. If you are around in town and need a heads up on where to go/what to do, just let me know. :)

sound, matt, thanks.

by mamak stalls, you mean the little food stalls everywhere?

if you do head down to the AGG, drop me a local number and it'd be good to put a face to the name. i'll be staying at one of the hostels near the crowne plaza (waaay too expensive for me to stay there), so yeah, any heads up on things to do/places to go around there would be much appreciated.

Too cool. If you have an iPhone, the Time Out KL App is free. That'll steer you right.

You're right in the heart of the city, so you're in the perfect place to explore Pavilion KL for shopping, Bukit Bintang area for a bit of nightlife, shops and culture. Changkat Bukit Bintang is down the road with loads of great bars and restaurants. Definitely head there. And Bukit Bintang also has lots of saucy massage places. An hour is around RM50 and the girls will look after you for around RM100-150 if you negotiate well and say you're not a tourist. Otherwise they're be into you for RM300-500 or more.

So people tell me, anyway...

We are never sure if this match is going to be shown LIVE but if it is, then it is probably 1am on Friday morning. Assuming if it is LIVE, the Spurs Malaysia group will see if there is any interest to watch it at Sid's seeing it is quite late in the night.

am sure someone in this thread will update you :D

Go to Gypsy. Bottle of goose only 290rm!!!!! 2nd bottle 210rm. Was a very good 14 days after experiencing those cheap prices. Havana is pretty decent but if you want proper clubbing, Zouk or Rootz. Rootz has a 1 male 1 female ratio thing going on there.

Also check out The Pool on Sundays. 3pm till late.

Also, Matt... what happened to the irish bar next to McD's? Right on bukit bintang? Im assuming it went out of business because of their astronomical prices for food and drink.

I wouldn't go to Gypsy Bar. Unless you like getting wanked off by fat Filipina whores in a dump drinking watered down booze (I think this is roughly the description they use in Lonely Planet ;)). Their cheap prices have contributed, along with their shameful introduction of prostitution to Changkat Bukit Bintang, to turning the coolest street into a place where young expats and Chinese kids routinely get into fights and run down the area. It's a really sound street, but after midnight on the weekends it prickville central. Very sad. Gypsy Bar is almost entirely to blame and widely hated by all the other, sound, bars on the strip. if you want whores, Beach Club is infinitely more fun and preferable. Always entertaining, even if you're not interested in the brass.

Agreed on Havana, Zouk, Rootz. But if you're not a clubber, stick to bars and pubs on Changkat or nearby. The Whisky Bar, Werner's on Changkat, The Ceylon Bar (can mention my name there, they know us well), Finns, The Green Man, Pinchos Tapas, or even round the corner at Bakita, Delucca, there's no shortage of good places on Chnagkat and the best thing is, if you're not keen, try next door. Loads of good bars all in one short street.

Finnegans. Moved to Changkat as - like so many good places in KL - they raised to rental. Landlords are greedy bastards here. They'd force out so many tenants as soon as they become successful. Relish burgers being another good example. Finns on Changkat is a good and their St Georges Tavern in Bangsar Shopping Centre is good, too. I'm there tonight in fact. :)

Yup, that's the one. Jalan Ampang. Get there for 8.30ish and show starts at 9. I'll try to make it a good line-up for you. :)

I saw your massage place comment and changed my mind.

Entertaining for a forum but not the type of person I'd like to meet.

Cheers though.

Fair enough. I really do mean "so people tell me...", for what it's worth. Better things to spend my money on - my family for a start. I admit my social circle is not always the most morally upright. I had a meeting on Tuesday with a bloke who I consider a friend who, with absolute deadpan face, devoid of any irony whatsoever, said "[My new bar] is going to be real classy. A really nice, proper, exclusive bar. Somewhere high-end that successful blokes can come, get a girl to sit on their lap for the night. Have a bit of fun. Stylish, classy, you know?"

I didn't know whether to laugh or slap him.

Anyway, regardless of whether you want to meet me, you're very welcome to a show. I can put your name on the door as I expect you and Ken would enjoy it, even if the host isn't to your taste. :)

No, thank you. I appreciate the offer though.

Yo matt is she like shooting you down or is this now really awkward...

annyyyyywayyyssss, gypsy bar is a disgrace yes but we only went for the grey goose. Promise. Pinchos is really good, however. Although pricey, their food is good! Relish was on top of zouk, right? My teachers friend owned it and always raved about it but i never went.

Not at all. I was being seedy and it's a pretty revolting thing to talk about. She was very polite. I don't hope or expect to be universally liked. :)

Yup, Relish was ace. Good friends with the blokes that owned it. Had to close after landlords tripled their rental. Sad times.

It's been shite the past week. Lots of drizzle. Just down in Singapore at the moment and annoyingly it's lovely sunshine.

Still be very hot and humid, so shorts and t-shirt is the way forward. But bring a lightweight jacket or fold-up umbrella of some kind, or just be prepared for lots of lingering in doorways (even with a coat and umbrella, you wouldn't go out in the storms here). However, note that most pubs, shopping malls, in fact all indoor areas are absolutely bloody freezing due to the air-con. If you're intending to spend long periods of time indoors, some form of shirt/jumper and trousers/jeans is essential. Shouldnt be an issue at the tournament though.

Just realised I'm on holiday this weekend, but should be back around on Sunday arvo, albeit that I'm hoping to see Tiger Woods at the CIMB Classic down the road. Are you still in town on Monday? If so, let's grab a lunch or some post-work beers. Otherwise, I'll see what I can do on Sunday. Either way, enjoy the event and enjoy KL. :)

Awesome (although I'm guessing that means from a work point of view, it's not so awesome). Try to be here for a game. We had 35 Spurs (4 Chelsea) at Sids for the Chelsea game. Cracking atmosphere. If you can stay until the first Thursday of December then we'll get you down to Comedy Thursday, too.

*Feel free to decline on grounds of MC's taste/decency.
