This competition is so hilariously awful. It’s impossible to take seriously. And its happening when theirs a deadly disease running rampant everywhere. Nice one, UEFA.
I don't think we've earned the right to be condescending to the EL considering we've won 1 Audi Cup in the past 10 years.

Unfortunately I think we will take being knocked out of the league cup rather than Europa. If it was two legs it would be different but we cannot afford a second team to go out there and get knocked out.
Prize for winning Europa is top seed in CL. Win league cup and we are back in the Europa.
No argument really, no matter how ridiculous it may seem dragging Kane out to Eastern Europe.

Actually you are not back in the Europa if you win the League Cup,
From next season you are in the final qualifying round of the new 3rd tier Europa Conference League if you win the Carabao.

Europa will have a Champions League feel to it next year, very few qualifying rounds, none of the numerous clubs from around Europe, they will all be in the 3rd competition.

Our best 4 teams will be in Champs League Group Stage, next 2 in Europa League Group Stage and 7th best in Europa Conference League qualifying.

And the access order is
1st - 4th (guaranteed CL)
FA Cup (EL)
5th (guaranteed EL)
League Cup (guaranteed ECL, would go to EL if a Top 5 club wins FA Cup)
6th - not guaranteed anything
7th - only if both LC and FAC won by a Top 5 club

Just wait until the year afterwards - if you secure 8th place on a day beginning with T while having a prime number of total corner-kicks, you qualify for the Copa Libertadores!

That's an exhausting fixture list just looking at it.

I think the carabao cup needs to be the youth Cup for us. Just let them go for it but youth only.

You may as well complete that, so we can get more people whinging, even though we have known this for a few weeks.

Everton H Sunday.
Bulgaria Thursday.
Southampton A Sunday.
League cup Tuesday.
Macedonia/ Romania Thursday.
Newcastle H Sunday
League Cup Tuesday (assuming we qualify)
Europa League Thursday (assuming we qualify)
Man Utd Sunday

and then the players immediately go on another International break

And it's only September! Can you imagine what the squad will be like come Feb/March? If there is any squad left by then. Or April/May?! :hungover: With only 1 centre forward?!! :wideyed:

We seriously have to fuck the EFL Cup. I don't see any other way. Strictly a 2nd string/youth thing until the quarter finals at least, if we get there.

Selfishly, I'm looking forward to seeing us play 2-3 times a week this month. Jose will have to rely on the younger players for the EFL and EL games and from the bits I've seen in pre-season, I think the youth players will be itching to show the coaching staff that they're in contention for the 1st team.

Makes the fact that we allowed Skipp and Parrot especially to go out on loan so early seem even more ridiculous. Surely signing a striker before next weekend is now an absolute must and not doing so is borderline negligence.

Looking through the EFL trophy fixtures can't find us entered this season , other PL U21's like Liverpool , Fulham , Man C etc all have fixtures but not us , perhaps already decided that our U23's & U21's will be our Carabao cup side so allowing 1st team squad a break between PL & EL fixtures.

I agree but wait until we are all complaint about the standard of the officiating and we might think differently. The officials in the EL used to make the PL refs look almost competent they were so bad.

Forgot that was starting after the upcoming season. Puts the League cup further down the pecking order. We are the only country in Europe to have a second cup competition. Would not like it to disappear but if the top clubs get a chance to get out of it, they will.

We are certainly not the only country in Europe that has 2 cup competitions, France does, Scotland does, Portugal does for example

France has just scrapped there's, but I do still like it - gives an opportunity to some fringe/youth players, helps the lower leagues, gives more sides a shot at a trophy in an era where they're dominated by 5 clubs, and really does no harm. Scrapping it would make fixture congestion worse because it would eventually, be used as an excuse to expand the European competitions even further where you'd have to actually play the first team.

Insanity that they won’t adjust the Round 4 schedule assuming we make it. The following round is in December.
