Wolfsburg and Spurs forward Heung-Min Son have agreed personal terms.
However, the clubs are yet to agree a fee as the North London club want €25m but Die Wolves only want to pay €20m.

And 'Die Wolves' seems rather uncalled for...
Screw Flanders!

Anyway, it would be a shame to let him go unless he wants to... doesn't say a lot for last season's signings if Son goes, N'Jie goes (Marseille still on?) and Mitchell also leaves.

odd one, just after one season.
Makes more sense when you take into account the fact he has to complete a two-year military service for S. Korea. He lost his last chance to gain exemption when Korea was knocked out of the Olympic tournament.

For some reason I can't quote your post. But how does moving to Wolfsburg make more sense over staying at spurs given his military obligation?

thx

It isn't his last chance based on what I've read. They still have the Asian Cup.

it's a full-time thing where he has to take 21 months out of his life. Better that he's a Wolfsburg player than a Spurs player as he loses that time playing football and his value will diminish.

Yes, you're right. Korea would seem to have a good chance there, but they haven't won since the 50s (?), though they were beaten finalists last year. The problem, however, is that the next Asian Cup isn't until 2019 (btw it's a U23 format that can have 3 overage players). Korean citizens can only push off service for so long, and though Son is only 24, he may be required to enroll sooner than after the 2019 games. I don't know the particulars of his situation, though, so it may be that he can rely on the the Asian Cup option.
