As far as i heard, all the journo asked was how important Giggs was to the team, to which Ferguson gave a stock answer.

Remember one other thing, ladies and gents - whichever side of the fence you stand on this one, that video is edited massively. There's no knowing what else was asked, how persistant the hack was, or anything about what else was asked by others, or what the general mood of the press conference was.

Never trust a random video edit. Show me the whole tape and i'll have a half decent idea as to the situation, but whilst it makes me laugh the way he who others wouldn't let join in their reindeer games reacts, saying they'll have him banned - quick point here, Fergie, this modern incarnation of a game you love involves these reporters as much as it does investors & supporters groups, so i suppose getting annoyed at them is a bit of a waste of time.

Unless you're going to stop talking to them altogether?

Why else would a journalist make a point of bringing up Giggs' name right now?

This thread is just an excuse to have a go at Fergie.

I think it's a very genuine and relevant question though - obviously, Giggs' head isn't going to be on the game and that could have a significant affect on the way Utd play. Scandal or not, whatever the reason, one of Utd's most influential players could be well off form for the big match.

To go in there expecting not one question that even mentions his name, let alone one relating to football as the one we hear on the video appears to be, is lunacy. It was going to happen, he should've had himself prepared for it.

Aside from all of this, after Ronnie O'Sullivan and a hundred other sportsmen being caught at press conferences, why did he even talk about it whilst still at the table??? He's not green, he knows that this happens, he was really rather silly for saying anything at all before he was behind closed doors.

The man thinks he is untouchable because of his success. Look at the way he behaves towards referees and his refusal to give interviews to the BBC. He just does what he wants because he thinks he is always right and superior. In fact he probably wanted people to hear it to show his power. That really would not surprise me.

Well, it is the journalist's job to ask questions. If Fergie does not want to answer it then fine. If he does not want to go into detail regarding the Giggs episode then fine. He just does not have to say anything. Why does he feel the need to ban him?

People on here calling the media scum and all that.......guys it's just a job! I guess they would fall into the same category as a traffic warden but outside the job they could be really nice people and not the scum people think they are. I've always said managers have the choice to say "no comment" or "I won't be discussing that today" If the reporter wants to insist and make an ass of him/herself then thats their problem. You put yourself up in front the media, you should be prepared to deal with anything they throw at you!

I'm torn on this one. If SAF holds a media press conference about the CL final then he's entitled to be annoyed by unrelated questions on Giggs or cheap shots at the whole affair. However, part of me thinks that the media are entitled to ask SAF if this whole Gigg's scandal is effecting their preparations for the game Saturday or if the player is 100% focused considering the media storm around him.

the media? hasn't the issue been brought up in your parliament? perhaps Fergie can dissolve parliament at least until after the game.
