#Sassuolo, contatti con il #Tottenham per #Zaza: la situazione http://gianlucadimarzio.com/serie-a/sassuolo/sassuolo-contatti-con-il-tottenham-per-zaza-la-situazione/… #gdm #gdmercato #THFC

My quick google search turns up the fact that he is 23. Has 7 goals on the year. Had 9 the previous year. Sassuolo currently sit 11th in the table.

Google translate of the article:

Simone Zaza to the percent of the market , on the attacker 's Sassuolo sets his sights on Tottenham . Today , in fact , there was a first meeting between the CEO neroverde , John Carnevali , and emissaries of the English club , who have expressed an interest in the player . On him remains the right of first refusal of Juventus , who have the right to buy 15 million at the end of this season and 18 at the end of the next . The striker has always preferred the Bianconeri to any other destination , at least for now . Now , the interest of Tottenham . A market alive , sirens English for Zaza .

Juventus have first option to buy Zaza at the end of the season for €15M but Spurs are exploring the possibility of signing him now. #THFC

Actually, here's a proper English translation:

http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/calciomercato/tottenham-contacts-sassuolo-about-zaza-the-situation/

Simone Zaza has made a name for himself this season. The striker is starting to have suitors abroad, in fact today Sassuolo's director Giovanni Carnevali spoke to Tottenham's representatives about Zaza. Juventus has a right of first refusal on the player with an option set at 15 million euro this summer, and a second option for 18 million euro in summer of 2016. Zaza has always indicated he would prefer to go to Juventus, at least this is his current position. Tottenham is however interested and Zaza could be playing in England.

Can confirm I have absolutely no idea who this is but a quick skim of an ESPN article means I'll be furious if we don't sign him.

Don't think he's all that. Watched him numerous times and, yes, he scores for Sassuolo, but fails to really impress when stepping up to a bigger level. Has looked relatively poor playing for the national team, often choosing wrong options like trying to go it alone instead of squaring it. Often loses the ball in silly ways or picks out the wrong pass.

The one thing I will say, is that he does work hard. He tries to get stuck in, and sometimes it doesn't pay off, but he is quite resilient.

Tottenham Hotspur Officials Hold Meeting Over Simone Zaza But Need Juventus’ Help

http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/01...r-simone-zaza-but-need-juventus-help/183414/?

Tottenham Hotspur have started the ball rolling on a potential purchase of Sassuolo striker Simone Zaza, but will need a helping hand from Juventus to push through a deal.

Zaza has impressed Spurs with his feats at Sassuolo and the English side are keen on taking him to White Hart Lane.
According to Sky Italia, on Thursday, Tottenham officials held talks with their counterparts at Sassuolo over Zaza, to explore a possible deal.
Spurs will now be keen to establish how serious Juventus' interest in taking advantage of their first refusal clause is.
Zaza has hit the back of the net seven times in 13 Serie A games so far this season, having missed three matches with a muscle injury.
The 23-year-old has also broken through into the senior Italy squad and has four caps and one goal to his name.
Sassuolo have Zaza under contract until 2019.

Have to put some faith in transfers like these if there mitchel and poch players. Which they seem like they could be as levy wouldn't be picking players like this out the hat.

If he has gone through Mitchell's little black box and ticked all the criteria who are we to judge, there recruitment has proven results unlike our last few seasons

I can see this being true.

Di Marzio dropping names out of the blue like this tends to happen about 48 hours before they arrive. It's like Baldini has sorted the transfer and gives Di Marzio permission to break it

Genuinely always rated this guy. High stamina, 6ft1, amazing jump and heading ability, quick and strong, good finisher and can dribble a bit. Was in the Italian World Cup squad that went to Brazil ahead of his more established striker countrymen.

Only thing that doesn't add up with him coming to Spurs is that he is an out-and-out striker that isn't the best of passers and doesn't offer many goals for his teammates (like Kane). Thought Poch looked for that sort of forward, as per Lambert.

I'm always concerned about being linked to players who are 'alright' in the Serie A.

It's a league that makes Taarabt look like a good player. There's one league that did that, and I'll leave you to connect the dots...

He's a very good player and has played for the national side too.

Why on Earth would he want to go to Juve when they:

a) already have loads of strikers
b) will do what they've done with his Sassuolo strike partner Beradi and loan him out for a couple of seasons.
