Still disappointed at the result, but it does mean we are not in the 5th round to be played on 16/17 February. That means no game between the two UEFA Cup games with Slavia Prague, and one less in the build up to the Carling Cup final.

Bit of a rest is just what will be needed six months into the season. Unless the club do something stupid and rearrange a league game.

Yup, would rather give the eufa and CC cup final everything we have got. Hopefully we will get one of them. Confidence is high with this spurs fan.

I expect there will be a league game, especially as so few premier league clubs are left in the cup.

Think there is a league fixture set up for that weekend, there usually are when you get that far into the cup. Those fixtures involving teams still in the cup then get re-arranged.

No idea who we are supposed to play though

This was exactly what I was thinking.

I didn't expect a result today and although the thought of "we should have just risked Ledley" went through my mind, as I believe that would have been the different in the scoreline, I'd rather have a fit Ledders than make it through to the next round.

To be honest, we have two big cups - we're already in one final and we've already played the game of the season, the UEFA Cup is a must-win this season so let's just be proud of the effort today and look to Everton. We seriously need to climb up that table!!

:) glad to help - I tell you i'll be well miffed if spurs do arrange a lge game that weekend - we need the rest

I know and I agree, I just thought that it was logical that the Chelsea game would be re-aranged on that date........or maybe not

:) COYS - I tell you I'm glad CFC won otherwise it's very likely that would have happened and we don't need it - they'll have their African players back by then I assume - they have a squad that can cope with more games than us - let's hope their Cup game is a right knackering one - maybe with a red card or 2 as well :)

I said before the game that I think we should bail out and got a lot of stick for that. One thing that I like about Arsenal (perhaps the only thing) is they play a team just for the league cup. If they get knocked out, no biggie, otherwise it's very useful for fringe players who don't get enough games together. I know we have reserve team games but they never use squad players for those.

I hope Ramos adopts such a system. It really makes the most sense. Winning the league cup is fine but our aim should be winning in europe and pushing for 4th. As a fan I want to see players playing, not just sitting in the dugout or stands. I want to see Huddlestone, tainio, Bent, Defoe, Routledge, stalteri and Rocha start a game and show that they should be included in the first team. Also they'd be pretty fit considering the lack of games so they'd have a big advantage over the first teams of other clubs.

unless they make us play the Chelsea game early,

I've never heard of them bringing a fixture forward, and I'd be surprised if they wanted to move it to a time when we need a rest the most.

Once we get the Carling Cup out of the way we'll have more time to play these games, without having to worry about FA cup fixtures. We can focus on two competitions which is more than enough!

Don't you think we should win a thing or two before we start playing our reserves players in the carling cup? When we are a top four side, playing in the champions league, challenging for all the big titles (EPL, the champions league, FA CUP), then, maybe then, I can accept the policy of playing a weaker side in the carling cup.

But at the moment we should be trying to win every competition we enter, and that with our strongest team possible.

In theory great, but I believe it's better to concentrate on 2 or 3 competitions. How would you feel if we got knocked out of the UEFA this season, because the players were too tired from playing in the FA cup and League.

Why not play a weakend side in the Carling? Surely you believe that our players are good enough to beat Blackpool, southend, etc? We beat Reading away with a weakened team!

I can't see any silver lining when we lose, particularly in cup comps. One less chance for glory and less revenue.
