Agree that it's a harder sell to a prospective striker, but less games and less travel means Kane and Son are more likely to stay fit anyhow. I'd also like to think we could still attract an old head like Giroud without European football.
True enough again! I would rather we focused on young players though. We have our own old heads in Kane and Son, relative to how we play now, that’s as old as I think we should go. If we plan to work fast on the counter we need legs who can run!

£70m would be a huge hole in the budget. They may have pre planned for no CL football but I doubt they have for no European football. Only slight saviour is our non football events are a slight buffer.

This is the problem.

From a squad point of view I think we'd benefit from less games for a season while the manager instils a style of play. Have a chance to give players a rest etc. Realistically we are likely to buy 3 first team squad players in the summer. Concentrating on only domestic competitions will benefit us from a footballing point, imo.

But no European football so early in the time we have had the stadium will look bad and more importantly loss of earnings will be a big problem. We have tried so long to get our turnover in competition with the top clubs that it seems very strange for me to consider something that goes directly against that.

I can see the merit for having a season out of Europe, but it just shows how far we've fallen if people genuinely would prefer that. Of course we should be in Europe, wether it be CHL or EL.

IMO, being out of Europe would give all the excuses needed for a shit summer transfer window at a time when we obviously need to recruit some quality players.

Any club that harbours ambition should ideally been in European competition so in for me regardless of whether we can win it or not.

Levy is already making excuses for not being able to spend enough without CL Football, so imagine with no European football ..

We haven't even got a squad that can fill 11 player positions in the league let alone European competitions.
We dont deserve it the way we've been run.
One striker! Be fucking hilarious if it wasn't so tragic.

''It's magnificent to be in Europe, and this club - a club like Tottenham Hotspur - if we're not in Europe.... we're nothing. We're nothing.''

I always find one sentence quotes more powerful and relevant than analysis.

Got to be EL at very least for me; but I’m wondering if we can truly even achieve that this season. The income generated, the stage on which it’s played, and the experience for up and coming players are important aspects

Personally I think we'd be better off out for a season to give Jose the time he needs to get the team into the kind of shape he wants. Whilst he's under pressure to be in Europe he really can't get the team to where he wants them.

Yes, two reasons:

1. Our players will want to play in it

2. Our squad is built on European football. Without it we wouldn't need such a large squad. People think we are low on numbers now, well without it we would have even fewer players.

and this is coming from someone who doesn't like the europa league.

The Europa League is shite, but it's still better than nothing, and a much more prestigous trophy than the FA cup. Of course we want to be in it.

F knows what we’d do if we came 7/8th and had to do the pre qualifying. I think it’s 4 games even before get to group stage like wolves this season. I think it starts mid July and 3/4 of squad would be just involved in summer tournaments.

One of Mourinho’s most lauded achievements in recent years was winning the EL with that Man U side, so we keep being told. Indeed I wanted Mourinho in solely to get us over the line and win anything that’s not a preseason trophy. EL will do me nicely.
