So are you saying you know he will be deserving the sack in the near future but that it isn't your position that he should be sacked now?

How is that logically consistent? Surely if you know it wont work out then you would hope he's sacked immediately.

I am saying that the signs are already there that this won't work. Early in the season you normally see a manager make an impact and it then falls away, or they make an impact and it continues, albeit with results not neccesarily following straight away. Klopp for example. Wolves under Lage.

What we have is, we have got some scrapy wins early doors, but the performances have been shocking City aside which let's be honest was more a battling win then it actually being great football. It would be much more preferable to have lost four games in a row, but seen us playing really good football where you can see a philosophy being implemented. That might sound crazy but its the truth. Results will always catch up with you in the end if there isn't a style of play, and good performances happening.

Ultimately of course it is too early to say he should be sacked. He does need time to show he can improve the performances and implement a proper style of play, I'm just saying I don't expect that to happen.

It's perfectly serious. I'm not saying we're going to get relegated. But I can absolutely see us getting dragged down towards the bottom 6/8. One medium-term injury to Son or Kane and I don't see how we can possibly cope.

We couldn't score a goal from open play against Wolves, Watford or Crystal Palace. In fact we couldn't even really fashion an opportunity to score.
Some negative signs but it’s not THAT bad!!! I think we could finish anything from 6-10th this season but no way we get dragged into a relegation battle.

And if he maintains the current form and style for another seven games? Or 14? Or 28?

Not the worst result in the world but clearly not the best outcome with injuries and absences starting to rack up, and if anyone on here thinks our beleaguered defence is going to hold out and not get bullied, overrun and breached on frequent occasions on Sunday by Chelsea, and sadly continue our losing run against them at our new stadium then please offer me a rational explanation to the contrary........I won't hold my breath.

What do you mean? If he maintains the current style and performances, the results won't stay the same, that's my point. The performances either pick up markedly, or he will lose his job. The results can't out run performances.

I can definitely see where you are coming from. I went heart over head and voted 5th/ 6th but am already going to change it to 7th/ 11th ,which may also be optimistic but I hope that over 38 matches we will find a way to make the best of our squad and maybe even bring a couple of key additions in January if things havent improved .I do find it hard to see where the goals will come from this season. As has been widely said, we lost 26 from Bale and Vinicious. Kane and Son had a stellar season which is unlikely to be repeated so I look at the candidates to chip in with maybe 10 goals from midfield or out wide and I can only put forward Dele and that is a bit optimistic. That is bound to result in the more defensive approach we are now very used to seeing as the coaches can clearly see our limitations( and don't even think about long term injuries to Son and Kane. )
I do think it is far too early to be seriously pointing the finger at Nuno though. People suggesting he should be gone in a few months need to suggest who might replace him mid season.

Would’ve been good if we’d just hired a manager who was more likely to have been a good fit like Ten Haag etc, the managerial search in the summer was an absolute farce.

For the first time in 20 years I forgot we were playing tonight.
I remembered we were playing, but had no idea what time and didn’t bother checking.

Alternatively I got screamed at by my over tired 3 year old and generally had a terrible evening trying to calm him down. It was still better than watching us play though. Tottenham simply doesn’t help tilt that ‘pleasurable’ balance anymore, so I don’t bother chasing it.

I can’t believe I would ever say I’m getting a bit bored of Football generally, but more so how unaffected I am about our results now. It must be a phase.

Hmm that’s not so promising but thanks for the info mate. Still a young raw talent and hard to play well if the team isn’t playing well and tricky away tie.

He is one who needs time for sure.
I must have seen the other bits then.

Took a couple of balls out of the air and killed them stone dead, before beating a few defenders and getting a cross away.

Lovely cross for Scarlett which the defender cleared and a goal kick was awarded!!

Set pieces weren't great mind but I enjoyed watching him.

Notwithstanding the discussion regarding tonight's game, how we as a club have allowed West Ham to move above us in terms of ability and results is beyond me. Appalling display of mismanagement. Let's not take any more satisfaction from the fact that Arsenal have slipped further down the pecking order than us. We need to address the situation that West Ham are seen as more potent than we are. I'm not sure how we've allowed this to happen? Most likely arrogance.

did anyone play well tonight? Must be some individual player p 8ositives to take?
Tanguy, Emerson, Hojberg were three who played well, maybe others
Overall it was a very good result against a very dangerous team with a tremendous crowd behind them
Also the ref seemed to favor Rennes
We are now in pole position to win the group and I think have now officially overtaken Arsenal in UEFA rankings, and if not now will be by end of group stage I think ???

PEH’s interview after was interesting when they asked about how it’s going under Nuno and he hesitated and didn’t sound all too convinced or excited tbh. Mabye reading too much into it but tbh I agree with your points anyways
Not much to get excited about if you have any love for the game, at best we will become a "difficult to beat, difficult to play against" side under Nuno. That will only get you so far though, with this squad probably around the 7th place in the table.

Hojbjerg is a bit overrated on here but the one thing he appears to have that our other midfielders don't is a bit of urgency to go with his commitment. In that sense, you can see why we rate him highly while fans outside of Spurs don't think too much of him.

He realises we must battle but also hurry along more in possession. We play far too comfortably in the middle and at the back, with way too many square passes and not enough movement off the ball. The tempo of our passing is terrible - the ball is trundling along among our back line, often a half-yard behind the receiving player. One touch passing to get up to the final third more quickly is rare.

Decent teams do these basic things well, almost to the point you don't notice them because the focus is much more on their attackers, who see a lot more of the ball in good situations. And by decent teams, I mean Wolves and Palace did this better than we did.

When I think of our last two away performances in Europe prior to Rennes and allowing for quality of opposition this performance and result was a big step up on Pacos and Dinamo Zagreb
