It could be Teun Koopmeiners, DM/CB for Alkmaar, left-footed, have fantastic passing range and they play 433. Also, his defensive stats compared to other midfielders in Europa League looks good.

Looks class on the ball in this video. If his defensive output is good as well I like the sound of this signing. I imagine we'll be targeting the Dutch, French and Belgian leagues this summer as they didn't restart and are therefore feeling the financial pressures of the pandemic even more acutely than most (not to mention are affordable markets to begin with), so we may well be able to get players at the prices we need.

Yes yes and yes! He’s class. As a pure DM, he’s in a whole different class to PEH, however, we all know that the eredivisie isn’t the best league to gauge the talent/ability of a player. For every Suarez there is a Jansen. It seems we’ve done well with Stevie as I also rated him highly. Hopefully ziyech flops, but he’s most likely gonna be a world beater. Anyway, like you said and the vid shows, his passing is the highlight of his game. Very versatile as well, he’s mostly played CB this season bc of injuries, but DM is his best position. He’s already the captain of AZ at just 22, so he can provide the leadership qualities that we know we’d be getting with PEH. Very calm on the ball and is a great team player with and without the ball, as is the Dutch philosophy. He’s also a dead ball specialist, reliable from the spot and deadly from free kicks. He’d probs be cheaper than PEH too, if it were between the two, I’d choose Koopmeiners.

That is an absolute wand of a left foot

But
Can he move around the pitch? Or is he Dutch Tom Hudd?

Graphs like I made with Hojbjerg and PL midfielders:
Recoveries & Aerial Duels
Pressures
Tackles
Interceptions and clearances

Obviously it's very small sample, but from those numbers... wouldn't say he's much worse than Zakaria who looks like an ideal DM.
He takes set-pieces too.

Also AZ's captain, at age 22, for all those leadership junkies.

That’s definitely something to keep in mind. The Dutch style is all about interplay and positioning, so midfielders especially in possession are generally rather stationary but can pick out the perfect ball with the right weight. The best way to determine his fit in the prem would be in Europe, and he was the best player on the pitch when they drew with United in the group stage of Europa. The game at old trafford was a mauling, but I think he is mobile enough. I also think he has the physicality to be a success, he isn’t bullied like some players from the Netherlands.

Why don't we just buy who Lille is rumored to buy? Jonathan David to replace Osimhen would be a great prospect to add to our attack and a deputy for Kane along with being able to fill in at other attacking spots.

I just think the entourage and agents of any young forward look at us and think their charge will whither and die behind Kane. It’s a problem. Maybe’s Jose’s silver tongue can coax some pretty young thing into taking the plunge. Equally Levy providing a fat contract too, but we know how easy it is to get ice in your drinks in hell.

Koopmeiners has amazing technique. My jaw dropped on that first long ball, it's struck so purely, it moves like shit off a shovel yet is controllable.

What’s the views on Schick? Steady stint at RBL, but now available from Roma, wondering if a swap for Lamela could be done? He’s big, quick and can play wide or central.
Might be more attainable than Milik.
Meh. He is ok. Hasn't quite lived up to his talent, doesn't score much, but works hard and leads the line well. Would be a significant downgrade on Lamela though, so a straight swap would be a really bad deal.

He is a bit injury prone, and famously failed a medical at Juve so there is that to consider as well.

If we are going Orange, I'd like it to be Van de Beek. Seriously underrated player in a world obsessed with 'output' but he'd really help link all the attack together and could play effortlessly as number 10 or deeper in a midfield 3. Mind, I suspect he might be a bit on the expensive side, and real madrid are still rumoured to be interested. But I think he has all the attributes we need offensively, and he is one of those players that can look 'quiet' but bring the best out of those around him.

Reportedly one of our previous “primary targets”, Victor Osimhen, is likely to go Napoli for 80m [although the report did state that an English club made an approach today].

I really thought COVID-19 was going to bring about a correction in the transfer market, but it looks like it is still inflated and out of wack.

If true, Milik will almost certainly be out the door this window.

On Odsonne Edouard, he would be a risk and possibly overvalued. The average quality of the SPL is around league 1, with the better teams being good championship team, and I include Celtic in that. I mean, Jermaine Defoe scores a goal every 70 mins playing for Rangers.

Edouard's goal scoring record is exceptional though, and if the season were to have continued he might have even matched Leigh Griffiths 31 goals a season. The issue is that was Griffiths who never scored much internationally and a few years before did well for wolves in league 1. Or at least he would have matched Kris Commons' record, who came to Celtic in his prime of 28 years. Before that his biggest achievement was finishing 13th in the championship.

Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean he won't be a useful player, and when Celtic got Dembele he did alright and he would be an acceptable second choice striker. The same might be for Edouard, but his goal record doesn't mean much and there is a reason most of the media seem to be linking him with Crystal Palace and Leeds Utd. Again, this isn't because he might not be good enough, but because smaller clubs can outbid bigger clubs when a signing is considered a bit of a risk.

That fee seems inflated. The one that seems reported is 46 million pounds. Which is still a lot. If they get him though it will open up a move for Milik which I think would be a signing Jose would really like.
