News today that Wolves are installing safe standing rail seats in an entire stand and a safe standing campaigner said “Having recently seen the seats of this type at Spurs, I look forward to seeing what they will look like at Molineux.”
Wolves are emphasising this isn't a safe standing area but by doing it they are making it safer for fans if they do stand which I guess is our position too but the interesting thing is that the installation of these seats isn't prevented by any legislation or laws as long as they are not designated as safe standing which means there really is no reason for any club not to do this if they want to.
Surely this is an example of the reality on the ground leading the authorities, apparently the Sport minister Mims Davies is not convinced and wants definitive evidence and I can't help but think this may be just that evidence my dear Mims, after all if clubs install these barrier seats is any responsible minister or association administrator going to make them take them out?
Could this be the start of safe standing becoming unstopable?

Not sure we can really claim to have started it given that they already have existed in other countries, and I think even in League 1 and 2, for several years already. But it's encouraging to see other PL clubs "future proofing" their stadiums like we have. I still think we've got a long way to go because the politicians seem to be extremely reluctant to be the one to push for it though, and at the moment they're just a little bit tied up with other matters.

As a side note, out of interest, what's it like being sat in one of the "safe standing" rows at the new stadium? From the pictures of it I've seen of safe standing it looks like when you're sitting the rail would be blocking your view quite a bit, or are they designed for that not to be a problem? GUess it depends how tall you are really I suppose,

The bars are quite low actually and I haven't had a problem with the view, when you are standing though they are good to lean forward on but also a good height to lean back on the one behind, I think they are the way forward to be honest.

I sit in the North stand and there is a tiny area with rails in front including my seat. It does not block the view at all and is wonderful to lean on and rest

If they are unsure and need more info, then why not trial it.

We already have everything set for a section of the ground to stand during a match. Let us use it for a season or 2 and they can get more info.
