He's a phenomenon.
Against Madrid last season (this year) in the CL, he was still dribbling and blazing past Madrid players on the wing at times. No Joke.

I'm with Sunny on this one. A fantastic footballer, what he has achieved in his career has been incredible. In my mind the fienst footballer of the PL era.

"Ryan Giggs 40 today". That's nearly 2 chicks an hour, not bad for an old giffer.

I jest of course, top player & to keep up that level of football for so long is phenomenal. I suspect I'm not the only Englishman to curse his Welshness over the last 2 decades, we could have done with a LW of his class. Or frankly any class...

Bale is a better player now than Giggs at his peak and Bale will get better.
Having this discussion with my dad(big united fan), SSN asked before the break how much would Giggs be worth today.

I said Giggs is simply not in his class because he never had a season like Bale did. Also he has always be the bridesmaid never the bride. I asked when was he ever United's best player? let alone the premier league player of the year(which bale won twice)! I know he won it one year but that was out of pity! He didnt answer to the united question, to which I started trolling and said if Giggs career was a film, it would be 27 dresses:D

He is a truly great player but so is Scholes, Giggs has managed to just not get old as quick and maintain the high level.

I'm not sure about that you might want to see what the likes of Xavi have won and still only 33, World Cup, 2 European championships, 3 CL's, world player of the year, ballon for top 3 in the world 4 times, 130 caps for a powerhouse like Spain and still going, domestic honours a plenty!

Giggs has had a great career no doubt but he's never been one of the worlds best players, there's always been a fair number of players ahead of him and has rightly never been close to top 3 in Ballon Dor or FIFA world player of the year awards.

Comparing international records is pointless and futile. Giggs might has well been born in San Marino, as they have as much chance as winning any international tournaments as Wales.

People in this thread are going way overboard about his personal life. His brother is a muppet who has got rich on the fact that he is the brother of Giggs. And his brother's wife is just a slut.

Giggs was better at his peak, Bale had one outstanding season where he was the main star in the team. One is not enough, otherwise I can claim Clive Allen at his peak than both because one season he scored 49 goals.

Bale has been amazing since the season we qualified for the champions league.

He's been very good but not amazing with the exception of last season. I'm very sure RM would not had come in for him if he was still just a winger.

When subbed during that game all four stands clapped him off. The fans knew they were seeing one of the last modern era stars....

Funny how English/British players are more appreciated abroad than over here. Scholes never got the full respect over here by the fans or media. The media pretty much hounded him out of the England team ffs. Sven chose to play him on the left wing to accomdate Gerrard, with his hollywood passes, and Frank in CM. Truth is the team should have been built around Scholes like Hoddle was trying to do. Just google Messi, Xavi and Iniesta's comments on their thoughts on Scholes.....

Hell of a player is/was Giggs, but the stuff with his brother's wife means I won't miss him when he's gone.

Truly a great of the game.

To put a price on a player like Giggs would be impossible. The time he has spent playing for the Utd first team with the consistent highs he has achieved is one thing, but having a person like that around the club for 26 years (man and boy) surely is priceless.
