To put things into context here, I was doing my first year of A-Levels when he made his debut for United. I'm 40 now married with 2 kids & a nagging wife! What a player he has been, deserves all the praise he gets today. We will never see another like him!!!

This vid is almost 5 years old....

Yeah. I think that he and Brad are the last 2 PL players older than me. When they 2 retire i will be older than all the players, and a PL managwer will be younger than me.

Good times

Incredible achievement.

I was reading the article on Skysports from wenger and got me wondering.... do you think Giggs has lasted this long, because he's not had to play any major championships outside of club football with his country? Obviously it's down to his personal fitness levels which he should take all credit for, but this surely has to play a part in it?

A true Pro.

A true nemesis to many teams such as Spurs.

No so good in the marriage department. Loves the bearded clam. Lucky sod.

Considering the massive fuss it caused at the time, maybe it'd be better for everyone if we kept this thread to his professional career, rather than his lady-spelunking activities - wasn't he the one with the super-duper-ultra-mega-injunction-from-space or something?

Helluva player though, can't fault him on the pitch and i doubt that, with todays trend of anyone over 30 being considered past it, we'll see any player equal his playing record. Tikaboo, son.

I think you should have left your post where it was, it opens up an interesting debate.

Chris Benoit the wrestler was someone I admired and respect tremendously and still do as a wrestler, Benoit the killer of his wife and son sickens me and I have a lot of conflicted feelings about the issue. I just wouldn't start a Benoit appreciate thread because of what he did.

Of course what Giggs doesn't compare to what Benoit did but it was an extremely shitty thing to do none the less.

Well, not sure about injunctions and stuff like that, but I will say I find Giggs repulsive, he might be a great footballer but he's an Arsewipe of the highest order.
LOL it's all over the place that he had an affair with his brothers wife, that is a fact.

Gazza smashed his wife up time and again, he's a legend in most Spurs fans eyes.....

What Giggs done to his bro was low, no doubt, but that does not take away from the fact on the football field, where I judge players, he is a living legend and we will never see his like again...

I understand what you're saying but we will definitely see his like again, there is and has been many better players than Giggs over the years.

Almost 23 years a pro, 13 League Titles, 2 CL, 1 CWC, countless dometic cups, I think not...

great player, no doubt. the level he has maintained deserves such credit and he is a "winner".

i have to put it out there.

Peak v. Peak.

Bale (last year) v. Giggs (any year)

Not a question of longetivty, but pure quality.

I'm not sure about that you might want to see what the likes of Xavi have won and still only 33, World Cup, 2 European championships, 3 CL's, world player of the year, ballon for top 3 in the world 4 times, 130 caps for a powerhouse like Spain and still going, domestic honours a plenty!

Giggs has had a great career no doubt but he's never been one of the worlds best players, there's always been a fair number of players ahead of him and has rightly never been close to top 3 in Ballon Dor or FIFA world player of the year awards.

Bale is a better player now than Giggs at his peak and Bale will get better.

Also, Teddy Sheringham was playing Prem football at age 40, and probably could have gone on longer if he wanted. Not like Giggs is the first.
