It amazes me very time you hear Spurs linked to a player we don't can't won't pay the fee.

Tough one here that sort of emulates what's happening at a higher level between the board and Conte and I truly do not know what I would do in this situation

- Conte won't sign a long-term deal without assurances
- Board won't back Conte without a long-term deal
- Conte seems to want Malinovskyi as a rotation option for Kulu or a CM in midfield 3
- Player only has 6 months left on current deal and club doesn't want to pay for a player hitting the boom/bust period of prime years
- He hasn't featured much this season due to his contract situation
- If Conte goes at end of season or before, this player could easily turn into "deadwood"

I'm always back the manager to let him produce results, but definitely a tricky one - and FP must be having a headache this month already ?

It amazes me that every time we're linked to a player, that everyone believes that we're actually in for them and it's not to generate clicks for advertising revenue or clout.

I'm no media expert just making an observation.

Yeh it's tricky, but the issue for the club is:

Malinovskyi - don't want to pay low fee due to age and contract situation
Maddison - don't want to pay high fee as feel it's over-inflated
etc... etc...

The issue again is that Levy doesn't get football at all. AM is probably the most expensive position on the pitch after forward players, you're not going to get a bargain deal in that position and we need players with the quality that can hit the ground running. That either means an older player that is cheaper or a younger player that is very expensive.

Makes sense. Always seemed like a player FP/AC like but not first choice. If the deal could be done for next to free then I could have seen it near the end of window if our other options didn't work out.

Not bothered by this. Think we would have been struggling to sell him in a few years time. Feels like one of those signings

Yeah, I think the fact he's going to Marseille is a signal of his level.

Looks a good player but more of a top 6/8 squad player rather than someone that would've improved us much. And given his age and lack of pace, he might've just ended up taking up space in the squad and being impossible to shift if it didn't work out.

Would've been fun to have a player with 99 shot power though....

Hoped West Ham would get him and struggle to get rid of eventually. Decent player who will score goals, but getting old and lacks versatility, he does one thing very well and that's it.

I was hoping someone else would come in. He's ok but, well it's already been said in here.
