Yes the early 60s team was a mixture of "stars" and workers. Peter Baker was one of the latter.

It was the sum of the parts that Bill Nich put together that made it successful. A little bit like what Poch is doing now.

I can't help bang on about Dave Mackay though. Dave was a very special unique player. A once in a lifetime player. An all time great in fact.

Too young to remember that great side. When I hear of their passing, I feel like it was a great-uncle I never really knew. Just sad, proud and respectful.

Very sad and like a few others on here I am old enough to see him play and the great partnership with Henry. I am also old enough to have seen one of his predecessor Alf Ramsey, Billy Nick and Burgess etc in the late forties and fifties. All those sides always played great attractive football on £20 a week and loved the club and very few ever left. Sadly most have gone now but are always remembered. RIP Peter.
