RIP sad news indeed:(.
I was at the Lane when he broke his leg. It was so quite at the time I could hear it happen.
Can't remember the game but if I remember correctly I was up on the shelf near the Paxton Road end and he was in the penalty area by the North Stand.

I thought he would be the next of the Double side to go as I knew he was quite ill with dementia but, nevertheless, it's such a sad day. One by one, they are leaving us...

I knew Peter (and his wife Linda to a lesser degree) and he was one of the nicest people you could wish to know. A natural athlete, a London boy Spurs through and through and in one of the best full back partnerships, with Ron Henry, that I have ever been privileged to witness.

RIP Peter, sorry to see you go and condolences to Linda and his close family and friends.

Strange, but perhaps it's one of my senior moments (!) but I don't recall him breaking his leg. Dave Mackay (twice), Terry Medwin and Maurice Norman did in the 60s.

Seriously?
:oops:Maybe it's a senior moment of mine then. I would have sworn he went down on the Shelf side of North Stand penalty area with a break to his leg.

Oh well. but I'm also sure I've been to places I've never been to when I get there for the first time so who knows.

I'm another one that saw him play and cherish the memories of those days. One of those players that will never be a household name, but to those that saw him play in that era he will always be remembered.

RIP

Yet another who saw him play and while I don't remember too much about him I know my father thought he was an excellent full back. Very sad to hear that he had dementia which is a terrible disease for the person and also those close to him.

RIP Peter baker

Not many of the double side left now - Cliff Jones is still around and still amazingly spritely is he the last one?

Still about seven or eight left with us, Maurice Norman the other high profile one. Terry's Medwin and Dyson, Frank Saul, Les Allen, Terry Marchi.

Very sad to hear the news. Peter was a very under-rated member of the double side. As a lad, my attention was on Danny, Dave, Cliff John White and Bobby Smith, Peter and Ron Henry seemed to miss out in the fans' adulation. A real team player and part of our proud heritage.
RIP Peter
