And for sure we are doing this for another clubs. It happens for everyone
Sure, it does. But why do we seem to be the ones always regretting it whereas other clubs find a good alternative. I remember we were linked to Cancelo too, why didn't we get him instead?

Don't remember Cancelo links but we would be hating him same as Aurier.

I'm gonna say I highly doubt that Poch rejected him if you follow the timeline of JJ confirming interest/dealings in June and then the deal is dead in August, then late in August we pick up the Aurier deal. Reeks of us not getting a deal done.
If course this is it.

I still cannot believe we didn’t get this guy and chose to get Aurier instead...

I would absolutely get him but why on earth would he want to leave Leicester for us given how shit we are at the moment? ?‍♂️

All the hand wringing for a player we're not looking at now.

You all say you know we won't do business yet you all post in hope, while saying we won't do business.

That's some funny shit.

At the time there really wasn't great deal of difference between them in terms of reputation - they were both very good right-backs in Ligue 1. Concerns about Aurier (and indeed, the entire reason PSG were getting rid) were entirely discipline/attitude based.

With hindsight, walking away from the Pereira deal and signing Aurier was the wrong choice, but Pereira can't have been available for the money we wanted to spend.

Pereira was signed by Leicester for 2million more than we paid for Aurier.

£23m for Aurier (summer 2017), €25m for Pereira (summer 2018) (both from Wikipedia). I don't know the exchange rates at the time, but I'd be willing to put money on that Aurier fee being at least €25m as well.

We honestly thought we had him 2 years ago - Deal was done at the time and Porto completely changed the conditions and in that instance we walked away.
Also Leicester wont let him go.
We seem to always walk away. Leicester obviously didn’t. Always ‘they changed amount’ excuses. Other clubs get transfers done. We don’t.

You have no idea whether the terms agreed with Leicester in 2018 were the same as those asked of us in 2017. The fact that we went on to sign Serge in 2017 for pretty much exactly the same amount of money as Leicester paid for Pereira in 2018 rather suggests that Porto's price was higher when we were interested.

Anyway, we should close this thread. If we wouldn’t buy him two years ago, no way are we now going to fork out in excess of 50 million for him

Don’t see why he’d come anyway at the moment. Lester pay good wages don’t they, and they’ll likely be back in the CL next year.
