Kane was excellent, but he needs to stop being our best midfielder and stay up where he does damage.

They should have been 4 up before we got our first.

Reckless by poch.

Played the lottery and lost.

Can't grumble.

Odds were ridiculous.

Lloris - 3
Trippier - 0
Sanchez - 6
Toby - 6
Davies - 4
Wanyama - 2
Winks - 5(avoided a 2 after playing better when Dier came on)
Son - 4
Lamela - 8
Lucas - 6
Kane - 5

Sissoko - 1
Dier - 6
Llorente - NET

Poch - 3

That is harsh. Kane worked incredibly hard. Dropped deep to try and create something and played some fantastic passes. Trippier played ok, he dead ball delivery and some of his crosses were really good. He was clearly worried about leaving us exposed to their 3 if he bombed forward too much.

Toby shouting at Trippier in the Liverpool game and now in the Barca game. Plus some itk said there was some trouble with the two players right before the Inter game. I really think Toby doesn't like playing with Trippier because Trippier leaves so much space and leaves Toby so open for attacks

We were not as crap as most were making out in the Match Thread melt down. We have played worse this season and have won (Manu for example). I think conceding the early goal threw a spanner in our game plan

The ref was consistently bad IMO so it evened it self out

Lamela my MOTM

Sissoko :(
Application was very good.

I don't blame the player here.

Poch also switched Toby and Sanchez position during half time, so Sanchez could use his pace and strength to cover for Trippier

The commentators were raking Sanchez over the coals all game. Wonder if that impacted my view of his game cos the ratings here have been pretty good for him.

I thought that was one of Son's worst games for us. Get ball, head down, lose ball. The one time he passed we actually got a goal.

Thought Wanyama looked more mobile and Winks grew into the game.

Lloris, hope he's not driving home.

Lamela and Lucas were great.

Some of you just slating Sissoko and Davies because its... well, them, is so petty.

I thought Davies did ok to be honest and Sissoko just came on and did what he was asked. Their last goal came from him but I'd hardly say it was his mistake, that could of happened to anyone.

Lamela, Winks and Lucas are the only 3 to come out with any credit, in my opinion.

Sanchez, Lloris, Wanyama and Son were very poor tonight. I am a little worried about Sanchez myself but I believe it would probably just be an age thing and that he'll grow as the months go by (not slating him/nor saying he isn't good enough)

Kane was sussed out, tried but didn't really work but thought he put in a good shift, none the less. Probably a 6 and thats it.

We were a little naive, they knew how to con the ref, and being honest it looked like he was on the barca payroll at times.

Things of note.

Lamela was outstanding at times, tried to set the tone. He believes the team do not.

The way we stood off at times was weird. When we pressed hard we looked very good and they looked vulnerable. Unfortunately we stood off and let them play in front of us was naive and without confidence.

Dier immediately improved the team when he came on and brought winks to life.

The sissokko sub was decent thinking he allowed trippier to get forward more and worked to some extent.

Gazzaniga didn't deserve to be dropped and lloris deserves to be dropped after that show. Very very poor. Last goal was a shambles from him, did t see the first goal because of the queues getting in.

Lamela top of the pile, lucas and kane did well. Excellent finish from kane. Winks really came alive when dier came on, and loved his scoop challenge on Messi.

With regard Messi we just stood off him and at times he walked through our defence with ease. We showed him far too much respect, way too much.

Lloris - poor and nervy performance. Should be dropped on that show. Cost us 2 goals.

Trippier did OK made himself available for crosses. Was decent as was Davies who was decent but very very unadventurous.

Toby and sanchez were good, not outstanding. But good.

Wanyama was very undisciplined in positioning and left winks covering himm when it should be the other way round. Not his best.

Dier immediately improves us and the team early trust him as we got more adventurous when he came on and pressed more. For those that cuss dier. Watch tonights game as to why he is important. The team know wanyama is a liability, it showed in the play.

Liked what winks did, especially post dier sub. Was adventurous made some good runs and was far more comfortable.

Lamela been said. He is the closest thing to a collosus that we have. Spurs the team on. Another goal tonight too.

Lucas tried and ghad some good moments.

Son was a bit meh and things didn't really come off for him tonight.

Kane, well taken goal and looking more like his old self but still not there yet.

Sissokko. Did OK and allowed trippier to roam.

Dier. Came on improved things immediately. The team trust him and it showed. Been poor recently I agree but not tonight.

Llorente. Desperate and unnecessary sub. Should of left lamela on if he was good to continue.

Loved the game though, team gave us hope and we were very much in it. Was a good lesson tonight. Don't expect anything from the ref. We got nothing. If only we showed belief from the start. It's clear our players with exceptions don't believe in us or themselves. That needs to change for us to progress.

Blow job:

Lamela.

Hand job:

Kane
Moura
Winks
Toby
Vic

Dick in the Hoover:

The rest.

No completely shambolic performances. Llrois was pone and I absolutely would have played Gazzaniga if I was manager due to his performances of late. Sissoko; well... I'm never really sure because I don't know whether to judge him by his own standards or footballing standards.

Weird game. Squad is lacking. Everyone's crocked. Poch can't play a settled side. Barca were pretty good. Ref was also fucking the Hoover.

Coco good. Lloris bad. Everyone else in between.

I thought Winks grew into the match - he is a guy who needs to play to build up confidence. The way the season is going, I'd rather play Winks and see what we have, than continue to trot out Dembele in every match. We need to know if Winks is the future.

We need a new LB - Davies looks to be a shell of his former self. I thought he looked poor this summer, but I was willing to write it off as he was playing CB in the pre-season. But, we need an upgrade - someone with pace.

We really missed Eriksen today - but I worry that a match like today is why he wants out - we looked miles behind Barça, even when we closed the score.

And, I am tired of the Poch Dark-on-Dark suits - as a one-off, it was ok, as a habit, it annoys me.

But it didn't happen to anyone else, it happened to Sissoko so he's rightly getting panned - again

Lamela gets MOTM for dragging our arse back into this.
Negatives:
Dreadful play from Lloris for their opener- criminal against this level of opposition.
The nervousness of our fullbacks, especially in the first half
Kane playing in central midfield at times
Winks and Victor losing their players when they attacked
Gaps in our defence
A dreadful shift from Son

Positives:
We turned the game around and almost picked up a point by taking the game to them
Kane looking much better in the second half, and scoring a very Kanesque goal
Lamela’s industry and goal
Winks growing into the game and making some confident drives
Moura’s pace and liveliness
Davies and Tripps becoming more confident and active in the second half
This was one of our weakest teams in the last four years fielded out of necessity. We can grow from this when we clear the injuries ward

Obvious fact:
Not signing a couple of quality players fucks us over at this level and in the Prem, especially in these circumstances

Lamela for me. ran himself into the ground.
WTF was Lloris doing - can't begin to imagine the abuse Vorm would have got for that performance.
Good to have Vic back even though he was totally outclassed in CM. Winks beginning to show a bit of form.

Look, Barcelona was amazing today, but our mistakes in deffence (particularely from Lloris, Sanchez and Trippier) ended up costing us at least three goals against.

Besides those three, I'm proud of our other players (even Davies who, IMO, played a good match). Lamela was once again amazing and who knows what the final score would have been if he hadn't been forced to leave the pitch early.

It was really nice for me to see that we can give such a good fight to the best team (and player) in the world while playing at their full strength. Our performance today actually has made me feel better about ourselves than our 3-0 victory against Real Madrid last season.
