Let's not kid ourselves, there is no race for the top 4 this season for us.
The rebuild should start in Jan where possible and the summer big time

Poch lost his job trying to squeeze more out of this spent squad and Jose will too if he we don't.

I feel your pain but had we won yesterday we'd have gone fourth so I don't think we are kidding ourselves. I had written us off a month ago but it seems I was wrong. I wrote before the game that even if we lost yesterday we still have a momentum so I am going to wear my optimistic hat.
I don't disagree with you on the rebuild though.

I agree, It’s still massively on. I expected us to lose yesterday. I just don’t think this team have the mentality to win big games and I expected us to not turn up with the pressure on. It’s happened so many times now.

The only concern with Chelsea winning is that it turns a corner for them in terms of their results.

For us, I’ll say it again and it is boring, it’s one game at a time. Missing Sonny for 3 matches (if we don’t appeal) is huge though unfortunately.

Whilst I thought we could win and was reasonably confident, realistically we were kidding ourselves. If you take a step back, we selected a CM of dier and Sissoko up against a world clsss technical midfield of ballers. What did we expect to happen?

Not to mention our performance away at wolves we were so poor on the ball. Fact is we are playing like shit

agree - putting Sissoko and Dier in midfield after what happened at Wolves dont help.

I groaned immediately when I saw the team.

I think top4 is still reasonably on, I think we'd have taken 6 points at this stage a few weeks ago. What I will say is that the suggestion we should have been competing with the likes of City/Liv with this squad or we had the 3rd best squad in the league has been shown to be a crock of shit and the route into the top4 will likely be because Jose is pragmatic rather than outperforming the rest of the league.

We can still do it, but ultimately I don’t think we are good enough at the moment.

We can talk about the fact we’ve got most of the good teams to face at home, but so far under Jose we’ve been outplayed in each of the games against good opposition.

I suppose we could go into flat track bully mode, but I think Chelsea will strengthen in Jan and improve and I don’t see Leicester stalling that much.

Judging by his personal performance yesterday, I doubt if we'll even notice his absence and the same would go for any of the players who produced that (whatever it was) yesterday.

Let’s not worry. We’ve already played 18 of the 19 hardest teams in the league, that’s good news for the rest of the season. Some of those matches have even been at home. All the other teams must face all the other teams, but we’ve only got each of them once!

To correct - Poch lost his job stubbornly relying on players who can't be arsed or are well off form, and Jose is (imo) trying to balance their value ahead of January where we hope he'll bin some of them off.
We have some good squad players that we aren't prioritising for some reason.

We will still beat and even blow away some shite teams based on our forward players. Take any one of them and put them in a side out of the top 7/8 and they’d be their star player by miles. But given the problems with a large portion of our first XI we’ll get drilled by anyone half decent and organised. Will that get us enough points for CL? Probably not I’d say but all the other fourth place candidates have also showed flaws so let’s see. You’d expect our rivals to strengthen though which will put us at a disadvantage.

Let's not forget Chelsea's form before they beat us, there's still plenty of points to be won and lost.

A few years ago we destroyed Jose’s Chelsea 5-3 and they comfortably went on to win the league.

I’m confident we’ll bounce back and finish top 4.

That's because that's what they are. Squad players. The reason they don't get prioritised is that they aren't actually that much 'better' than whoever they might replace. We've got far too many that can do a job for one or two games here and there but nobody you can rely on when the opposition is a bit better. We keep seeing that. We bring them in, shit performance, we change it, shit performance and so it goes on. IMO there is nobody we can suddenly bring in that's going to change performances. We've gone through them all, I don't understand why people keep thinking playing someone other than Aurier for example is going to change stuff. Change this player for that etc etc..... We done that. We done all of that.......it doesn't work.

There is nobody. Perhaps Sessegnon can do better but he's not going to change the dynamic of the entire team on his own.

Prioritising anyone right now isn't going to work, the squad needs an overhaul and a reset, right now that's a massive task. These performances are far too regular. IMO top 4 is, although still possible, very unlikely as it stands.

Our next three games should be cake walks. If we can pick up 9 points against Brighton, Southampton & Norwich that keeps us in a good spot and I guess keep our fingers crossed that Arsenal get a new manager bounce against Chelsea next weekend.

Brighton won't be a cake walk the way we are playing.

There are arguably a few "shouldn't be in the squad" players ahead of the "squad players", which is the problem.
