Villa gave us hope of a 3 horse race but it wasn't to be. If we beat Stoke then we are still in with a chance but I think Arsenal will beat Wigan.

It was a long shot that Chelsea were going to mess up both games anyway. 4th is still realistic and I'm confident Arsenal won't win both of their remaining games. Just hope we wins ours.

Agreed, I'm not devastated by this result, it just would have been nice to have higher odds of making the top 4 on the final day with both Arsenal and Chelsea potentially dropping out

I've been hoping for Arsenal to lose in potentially tricky matches for months and they keep coming through, here's hoping that will come to an end that we obviously win our games and also that QPR beat Newcastle so St.James' is rocking on the final day.

It seems that we just can't get a break in the latter portions of the season. It wouldn't surprise me if we beat Stoke, but Arsenal smash a tired Wigan next week, and Newcastle (having beaten QPR) roll over late in the second half and lose 2-1 to Arsenal next Sunday. Everyone here will be talking about how even though we finished 5th, it was a fantastic season, and all the talk of "Levy will back AVB" will start.... Until people start complaining in August about Levy not backing AVB again (which in turn will draw out the fiscal scolds to remind us that we can't spend like other clubs).

What is the fucking point of being a supporter if you give up before the game's even been played?

4th was the objective at the start of the season. Chelsea finishing 3rd (as they will do) changes nothing. If we don't beat Stoke and Sunderland, it's our own fault.

Have you seen Arsenal play lately? They snuck a win past already down QPR. Also, a team doesn't have to be playing for something to be impressive - West Brom beat Southampton 3-0 two weeks ago despite having nothing to play for, Wigan couldn't beat Swansea even though their lives depended on it. It's all about what team shows up, and there's no reason why Arsenal won't drop points.

Keep the fucking faith, jesus.

Really hope Chelsea beat Everton now so we don't look back on today's result as decisive.

Qpr vs Newcastle tomorrow is absolutely massive for us now. Need qpr to beat Newcastle so the toon have to fight on the last day (assuming arsenal beat Wigan on Tuesday).

Chelsea where always going to finish top four, the quality they have i midfield is immense, I will say however the fact that they managed to swing that game around after playing two games a week for however long it's been is something you have to admire as much as i hate those plastic flag waving twats. Real shame Benteke got red, but I never thought Chelsea would loose both their last games anyway so ether way it doesn't really effect us. The only people we have to blame is us for dropping points when we where far ahead of the pack. Unfortunately we now have to rely on Arsenal screwing up and much like Chelsea, they grew strong strong when we grew weak. If they beat Wigan I would be very surprised if they don't beat Newcastle in the last game.

Have you guys seen Wigan and Newcastle's defending; as people pointed out the fixture list will fuck us in terms of these games.

I had more hope in catching Chelsea tbh, messed up big time.

That game has just drained all of my optimism for the rest of the season.

I don't think we'll come top four, but it doesn't feel like last season. I think we'll progress regardless of where we finish as I can't see anyone (that we don't want to) leaving. We'll be better next season, definitely.

Do they? They look a lot like us at the moment to be honest - not playing great, but pulling out vital scrappy goals. If we can win at Stoke tomorrow, then we put the pressure back on them, which is the opposite to last year.

Jammy Chavs !!!

I guess the only small crumb of comfort and it is straw clutching is that Stoke are now 100% safe as opposed to being 99% safe and technically needing a point (as Wigan play Villa, so one or both of them will have to drop points).

Wigan will also know that they have hope so their real cup finals are against the Gooners and Villa.

It's up to us now to keep this realistically alive tomorrow, its a must must win COYS !!!
