It's not so much about individuals dying per se, it's about not wanting to see our health systems overwhelmed - that's what it's always been about. Football will return - the question is merely whether to knock it on the head for this season.I think this whole issues serves as a microcosm for the problems we're all going to face in the next few months. The way we run our society dictates that we simply must go back to work as soon as it's at all possible; to not do so is to risk economic devastation or even collapse. That will mean returning to work before it's 100% safe. It will therefore mean that some people catch the virus when they wouldn't otherwise have done and, yes, die from it. Right now there's a lot of sympathy for footballers not wanting to play. But once the rest of us are forced out to take that risk, I don't think that sympathy will last.
