Next game i'd like to see:

Vicario
Spence --- Royal --- Romero --- Davies
Skipp
Ndombele --- Devine

Kulusevski ------------------- Son
Kane
Need to see if Royal can play CB, Davies is able to be LB cover, Skipp can play 6 and obviously how Tanguy fares in this system.

Need to keep hold of GLC based on that - seems like the right system for him.

Udogie and Royal seem like they should be first choice left and right, need two new CBs though.

lots of food for thought, defence needs huge surgery, would keep perisic as an attacking option, as not confident in his defensive capabilities now, destiny looks bright and encouraged by lo celso

It's never great to lose to West Ham but think Ange will have learnt a lot. It's surprising how many good players we do have whilst still being clear how lacking we are in central defence. If we do nothing but sign 2 decent centre backs I think we're a shot for top 4 & a cup whilst being a great watch

Once we address our CBs problem, i think we'll be fine.

The system actually suits the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele so it'll be interesting to see more of them in this system. I now get why Ange wanted to see these players for himself. It's been a long while since i've seen us dominate a team like that. We battered them despite the result.

After that we certainly won't be concerned about boring football. Easy to see where improvements needed. Get rid off regi, tanganga, sanchez, periscope and maybe peh. 2 cb and a left back are needed. Udogie looked v good so just need a back for him

My take from this game: give Ange 2 CBs and we Will cook so hard this season. Also i’m hoping GLC gets another chance with Ange and stays with us

I’d agree apart from skipp.

Based on that, Reg, Tanganaga, Rodon, Sanchez and Hjojberg should all be outs
Positive stuff from Udogie
Dominated the game should have had 8 at least. Going forward not seen football like that for a good while. Defensive errors can be sorted
Hojbjerg? He was one of the better players. Some of his passing was excellent.

fair assesment, seems to me the likes of tanganga and sanchez, really don't suit Ange's style of football

Normally watching preseason I'm bored off my tits, usually watching us win too. That was a good watch and has given us a lot to think about.
We do tend to struggle to score against inferior opposition in preseason. West Ham fans will love winning but if you look a little deeper they're really not very good, will definitely miss Rice.

Despite the two goals, thought we attacked better with more penetration in the first half. Defensively far better in the second. Bissouma, Solomon, Porro first half standouts. Sarr, Lo Celso in the second.

What I will say, although this is preseason, 80% of our matches this season we’ll be spammed by teams counter attacking. That first half transition defending was not good. The second half was great. Their goal actually came from a duel won by Højbjerg and a misjudgment from Sanchez. With this setup and counter pressing , we must have physicality to win duels and be more secure in defensive transition. It’s why (LCB aside), the only part of the team that worries me is the fullbacks. Think it’ll be tough to accommodate both Porro and Reguilon in the same side. Need some more physicality in there to win more ground and aerial duels. Whether that’s Emerson or Udogie, I ultimately think it should be one first half fullback and one second half. Both of the second half ones also work, but then the direct progression from Porro and Reguilon was key in the first half.

Entertaining and super encouraging though. Have a feeling we’re gonna be great to watch from day 1 but more importantly combined with great results in time.

Think it's been a decent pre-season run-out.

Style of play more positive and in the main we look comfortable / suited to this style.

Main positive for me is that it's not about static ball-retention and we're actually taking risks progressing it forward and breaking the lines creatively.

Big plus points:
  • Bissouma, Sarr, Udogie all look exciting
  • Moving the ball quickly and getting it wide
  • Creating many chances and you have to think with Kane / Son we'll be putting away far more of these than we did today

Good signs but still nagging concerns:
  • Lo Celso looked encouraging as a CM (not sure on him as a creative AM)
  • Richy showed good energy and getting involved in build up (doesn't look like a goal scorer though)

Confirmed a few negatives:
  • Reguilon, Sanchez & Tanganga all look unsure & vulnerable
  • We are so weak in the air defensively
  • Lack a cutting edge up front without Harry
