Looked good but don't think he needs replacing with Ndombele, Maddison, Lo Celso, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp and Sarr already here. Think Gio, Bissouma and Sarr all stood out far more than PEH even if he was good too

Think Skipp and Sarr are a step down in terms of quality. Ndombele likewise has a absolutely huge amount to prove given his previous performances.

Bentancur, Bissouma and Maddison would be my three at the moment with PEH as first choice backup for the two midfield roles and GLC as first choice backup for Maddison.

So glad that we're playing fun football again and am largely very positive about the season ahead but will be curious to see how we fare against an actually decent team like Barca later in the pre-season. Lest we forget, West Ham were unadulterated dog-shit last season in the league and Moyes is taking them backwards, yet they still scored 3.

Most PL teams won't let us have that much of the ball and will cause us more problems in general.

I'd agree with Skipp but with how much we can likely get for PEH and with others likely ahead of him in the new system it's money better spent elsewhere IMO.

Despite losing, Postecoglou's way of playing using most of the same players at his disposal, shows the branded winners Mourinho and Conte now to be dinosaurs.

I really enjoyed and very encouraged by that performance

One of my biggest concerns that after the last four years we’d have defensive football ingrained in us, was amply put to bed by that performance.

Very healthy green shoots!

Of all the loanees, Gio is always the one who is good enough to stay with us. But now we have Maddison, I don't know if it's a luxury. We desperately need to sell players who actually have some worth so we can reinvest. If that means Gio for a CB, then so be it.

Just seeing the goal replays..........there's a hint of Hugo about this guy

Without seeing the game I’m hoping that is meant as a compliment but judging by some people’s reactions could easily be meant as a criticism. I hope the slagging off of Hugo can stop now and we appreciate what a legend he was for us.

Based on that, Reg, Tanganaga, Rodon, Sanchez and Hjojberg should all be outs
Positive stuff from Udogie
Dominated the game should have had 8 at least. Going forward not seen football like that for a good while. Defensive errors can be sorted
Not that I disagree with us selling him for a few reasons, I thought PEH had a decent game.

Also, i am loving the floating Fullbacks, Emerson and Udogie were often popping up in midfield and with clever players and movement around the team it really opens up positions and situations.

Really encouraged by what i saw, and although i enjoyed what i saw first half i have to say i enjoyed the football in the second even more.

When are we going to stop with the pointless comparisons to those two? Time to move on and enjoy the Ange revolution without it.

Also, it’s pre-season. Saying that one pre-season game proves that those two are dinosaurs is extremely hyperbolic. It’s like me saying Ange is shit because we still lost the game 3-2.

Few thoughts on individual players and performances of note-

Udogie is a massive upgrade at LB. He’s way way better than any other option there. Reguillon is honestly poor and I’d sell yesterday.

I think Emerson needs to be the starting RB in all our tougher away games and all against the top 4-6 teams. He’s just way more consistent on the ball and better defensively, with Porro always offering a big threat going forward.

Sarr and Devine are 100% ready to stay here and get more minutes.

Bissouma is a don, as we all knew and Lo Celso needs to stay, he’ll be class under Ange. I’d like to see a CM 3 of Bissouma, Lo Celso and Maddison.

Solomon was really good. Kulusevski looked rusty still, but so did Kane, so yeah never mind. Richarlison needs to hold the line better, offside too often but his energy and movement is actually well suited to this system so I can see him growing into it well.

Really good team performance overall, if we sign a couple CB’s I think we’ll be a formidable side

I see where you're coming from but I don't think we can solely rely on Maddison for a full season to be the main creative outlet. Having GLC, especially if he performs like he did today, can only make us a stronger team. I'd say we should look to sell PEH to raise funds for a new CB as we have Skipp, Sarr and Bissouma who can do what PEH does but neither of them really do what Maddison or GLC do.
