Very encouraging and showed our weaknesses that need addressing
Never understood why we want to sell Lo Celso. When Jose came in, he had his mind made up to not play Lo Celso, then he saw him in a couple of matches and training and changed his mind, also said he surprised him, then unfortunately got injured a lot.Nailed on outs Lo Celso and Perisic were outstanding.
Disagree on Højbjerg, at least in part. Showed plenty of incisive passing in the final third. Build up is different, he's obviously set in some patterns, but they also blocked him off pretty well in that part of the game.Based on that, Reg, Tanganaga, Rodon, Sanchez and Hjojberg should all be outs
Positive stuff from Udogie
Dominated the game should have had 8 at least. Going forward not seen football like that for a good while. Defensive errors can be sorted
West Ham came out with the same team and made their changes quite late.Wouldn't read anything into the 2nd half, West Ham do not have as deep a Squad as Tottenham.
Think it's been a decent pre-season run-out.
Style of play more positive and in the main we look comfortable / suited to this style.
Main positive for me is that it's not about static ball-retention and we're actually taking risks progressing it forward and breaking the lines creatively.
Big plus points:
- Bissouma, Sarr, Udogie all look exciting
- Moving the ball quickly and getting it wide
- Creating many chances and you have to think with Kane / Son we'll be putting away far more of these than we did today
Good signs but still nagging concerns:
- Lo Celso looked encouraging as a CM (not sure on him as a creative AM)
- Richy showed good energy and getting involved in build up (doesn't look like a goal scorer though)
Confirmed a few negatives:
- Reguilon, Sanchez & Tanganga all look unsure & vulnerable
- We are so weak in the air defensively
- Lack a cutting edge up front without Harry
Looked good but don't think he needs replacing with Ndombele, Maddison, Lo Celso, Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp and Sarr already here. Think Gio, Bissouma and Sarr all stood out far more than PEH even if he was good tooThought PEH looked good - if he leaves we'll need a replacement.
West Ham came out with the same team and made their changes quite late.
I doubt we have spent much time on set pieces at this point sent Ange has been implementing a new style of play. For me, coaching a new team, that is always the last point of emphasis.TBH, I really would have hoped our set piece coach actually stayed. Would have improved on our set pieces, be it defending or attacking.
Added a couple mill to his price tagCome on GLC. Convince Ange of your quality.
