Levy may have to redefine the nature of "essential business", as he & Poyet (presumably speaking for Juande) do not seem to be singing from the same hymnsheet at the moment...

But he also said that you can't coach players to defend corners in training. Which seems just plain nuts to me. What are we paying him and Wendy to do????

Thanks for posting the interview.

I thought that Poyet spoke very well there, There was nothing that he said that could be contested and I like the fact that he didn't hide behind any excuses.

I wish the interviewer had asked him about O'Hara marking Laursen, would have been interestedin his answer.

Also it would seem that 1 CD arriving is pretty much inevitable.

He's right though, we have one player who can deliver a decent ball, and he's crocked. The only time we ever see a decent delivery is from the opposition.

His lack of experience is evident. I personally don't agree with him coming out saying that there are going to be big changes. It adds money to purposed transfers and it is also washing your dirty laundry in public.

Eek he looked seriously cheesed off in the skysports interview

i hope the players are upset with themselves as well. In this day and age though you do question if the players are really up for it. So what if the club decides to ship you off? You go to the third-rate clubs like Wigan or Fulham where you get paid pretty much the same and the expectations are lower.

But it may also give some players a much needed kick up the arse.

Did he say this?

If he did I missed it, sounded to me like they have been trying but they've had enough of the players being seemingly incapable of doing it when it matters.

Do it in private. There is no need for you to criticize your players via the media. It makes you look like a small person.

I don't believe that Ramos would do it. I put it down to Poyet's lack of experience/professionalism.

Never give information that doesn't need to be given

Yeah it he did seem to contradict himself there didn't he.
Looks like we're going to throw money at the problem. Maybe we should look at getting a defensive coach in.

Ramos has a great reputation of playing attacking football but how does he fare on the defensive side of things?

It needed to be said. "Makes you look like a small person" - what do you mean? Sometimes they need to take a look outside in the Big Wide World, as opposed to living in their "we're doing alright" bubbles.

Rocket up the arse.

It is refreshing really to have someone be so honest rather than covering it with injury excuses, blah blah blah.

I have the upmost respect for Poyet and he is clearly more than just an interpreter. Maybe this was a way of pointing to players in the team that they are playing for their Tottenham careers. Quite obvious really that we need investment in defence, so its not as if we will get hold to ransom.

All I will say that you will never see Benitez, Wenger, Ferguson and say that there are going to be big changes the day after your Chairman has said that there will be no major transfers.

From an amateur/fans perspective, I like that Poyet has came out, positive in that there are going to be changes, but as a professional, there is no need for him to have said it to the media.

If Poyet was prepared to be that strong on camera, I can only imagine what's going on in the dressing room.

Actually, the transfer window has come at the right time. Juande has had time to get to know the players, see their potential, see how disciplined they are on and off the pitch, and how quickly they learn and react to things. Hopefully, he can strengthen in some of the areas we need to during January.
