I am still surprised by the quoted fees. Great work if we get him in for under £30 million. Established premier League player, looks a good fit for Conte's style and I think potential to improve further. He is a great defensive midfielder, but looks assured enough in the ball. I would be interested how that side of his game progresses playing with Kane, Kulusevski and Son.

Tbh paying over £30m for a player with only a year left on his contract and no experience of Champions League football would be ridiculous.

A quick interview with Bissouma from last season on his ambitions playing in the Champions League, as well as Graham Potter describing his potential as scary.

That bit from Potter about Yves potential and the fact that he's going to be getting guidance and direction from Conte makes me extra excited about the upcoming season.

And there's also the whole court case, lol.

I will say this, with Aurelien Tchouameni going for somewhere between €80-100m (I get that he's 20 and has a lot more potential), I think that proves Bissouma's 'hypothetical' value (with a long contract and no court case) is more like €50m-60m

It just feels too good to be true that he’s joining to be honest, I’m over the moon we have signed him, I’d say that deep lying midfielders are always my favourite type of signing and I do think De Jong would be my ultimate dream midfield signing, he’s an outlier taste wise in what I hope for from a midfielder because usually I get way more excited by a Wanyama type of midfielder and we were really blessed to have Wanyama and Dembele join us and I remember just how excited I was when we signed Dembele because he had just absolutely bossed United. I was extremely excited for Ndombele too but that ended in tears (mostly mine) but Bissouma I just feel like we have finally sorted that position.

I don't watch other teams like I used to, or any highlights shows. What sort of player have we got here?

Is he like a Palacios type player? An upgrade on Pierre? Or a box to box type midfielder?

Last time we played Brighton that Curcella (sp) looked decent to me but cannot remember Yves too much to be honest
In the FA cup he pretty much played against us on his own, and held us back.
I love a player who can dominate a game when all around him are wilting.

Yeah it reminds me of Conte with Romero. One of their best players but ceiling is so high that they talk more about future upside than praising them too highly in the present.

How does experience of champions league football influence price? I am not sure it does.

I reckon so. If a player can prove he is a standout player in his team in champions league fixtures then i'm sure that is part of the conversation when negotiating a fee.

Have people been on flight tracker yet? Isn't it a long flight over from Mali surely should be boarding soon ?

I am sure Yves will want that number 8 as it is his current number and his brand.

It is currently occupied by Winks and while he is linked away from the club if Harry doesn't move on it could get awkward with us unceremoniously taking it from him anyway.

I’m pretty sure we’re going to give Winks the Dele treatment if we don’t have any offers for him.

Bale's brand was 11 but had 9 on loan with us. I'm sure it will be fine. Or they do what United did last season when they gave Ronaldo 7 and Cavani had something else.

A bit different because Bale arrived after the squad numbers had already been allocated and he is not Ronaldo so they probably wouldn't have let him change with Lamela. Good luck trying to pressure Lamela into giving his number up though!!! Bale said in his interview that he liked the number 9 as well anyway, which was lucky.

I think we would have been honest with Winks at the end of the season in that he won't be playing much so maybe best to move on.

Sooo…we’ve got 4 Defensive Midfielders and…Winks…
exactly how conte builds his teams

at inter he had brozovic, vecino, vidal and gagliardini who’s strengths are more defensive minded (though they can all get forward as well)

Sooo…we’ve got 4 Defensive Midfielders and…Winks…

The attacking areas for conte with how he lines the team up are the wing backs and the front 3, with a CM getting forward at times (but job is more to break the play up when we don't have the ball)

Winks won't play much this season or will be sold/loaned out, so having those 4 if we we get them will give us a good squad rotation.

I think conte said last season he plays the main team mostly as he looked at the bench and didn't have many options to change a game! Probably only one or two players he seemed to like/trust to come o.
