He is a combo of Dembele and Wanyama. Wanbele!

I think he is an astute, excellent addition to our midfield. Throw Eriksen in there as well, and I’d love the options, flexibility this provides us. Especially going into a new tactical paradigm with the 5 sub rule becoming the law of the land next season. Really think this is exactly what Conte is asking for; options to change games.

Partey, Tielemans, Xhaka, ElNeny and Lokonga is miles clear of Bissouma, Bentencur, Hojberg, Winks and Skipp, don't get it twisted.

Hojberg-Bissouma might not have enough guile to cut it against the very best in the CL, but I tell you they’ll eat most PL midfields alive, top athleticism and aggression.

These are lines from here - Arsenal fans, of course.

The first comment is obviously nonsense. Tielemans doesn't play for them (yet?), Partey barely plays for them, Xhaka is a liability and I don't even have a view on the other two. I don't remember anything they have done in a match recently...

Second comment is partially true - the second half of it, anyway - even if they do conveniently leave out Bentancur.

We saw last season how classy Bentancur can be on the ball and he and Hojbjerg do get involved and set up goals (2 for Bentancur vs Norwich in the last game!). In the set up Conte uses they aren't the main supply lines either because of how the wingbacks play and the front three work together. In the 3-4-3, the two centre mids tend to close down the opposition, break up play, move the ball, support and close the door to any breaks just in case.

Having options for all the games will be such an asset next season. Especially if Eriksen joins too. That might be the 3rd centre mid when one of the front 3 is withdrawn and the system changed.

@Bluto Blutarsky noticed the same thing from watching him this season. We're going to be underwhelmed if we're expecting a rangy passer who initiates attacks and breaks lines with his passing. His passing is OK, but 90% of his passes are simple, short clean-up passes and nothing more than ball recycling. Of course, he doesn't play this way for Mali or under Hughton, and is a function of the two midfielders in front of him in the CM3 of Brighton's.

The clean up role is definitely is where his best attributes shine. He is actually Kante-like, in every sense of the comparison. His dribbling and body control are incredibly good, he's press resistant, confident in every duel, and he is an aggressive ball carrier.

But there's a reason he's only 25m and it ain't just the court case or one year deal. He isn't an elite passer and doesn't get into the box much for my liking. I wonder if a Skipp-Bissouma or Hojbjerg-Bissouma pairing would play out dynamically. He has the potential to play further forward and playmake, but his passing is very conservative most of the time.
Yup. With you on this. He’s a DM, just one that’s very skilful and has a nice shot.

The great thing about this guy is you could play anyone with him. In any system. He’s the ideal DM. If he could pass, then he’d be the perfect midfielder, and everyone would be after him. As it is, he’s great for us though.

The Kante, Dembele comparisons have some merit IMO

In certain games we will need to complement him with someone a bit more creative, but there’ll always be a role/place for someone with his skill set.

I agree with some of the observations being made about the type of player he is. He’s definitely been used as a DM during his time in the PL. he’s been integral to that Brighton side that moves the ball so well, so it should be no surprise that his biggest attributes (IMO) are to do with how he recycles the ball quickly. He’s got good feet, a good engine and good positioning. I don’t think he carries the ball as well as someone like Kante but he is a very good DM.

Yeah no-ones on Kante's level but Bissouma's ball-carrying certainly looks better than our current crop of MFs. Skipp is the only one of our current 3 that comes close in that area, so will be great to have another CM that can really drive us up the pitch.

The Wanyama/Dembele comparisons are good. He’s got a mixture of the strengths to his game that those guys had. I really think he’s going to be almost the perfect partner for Bentancur. Very excited about the prospect of those 2 dominating the midfield for us next season. This is the signing that will propel us towards challenging for major honours

I’ve watched him quite extensively for the past 4 seasons. The reason for this is we were linked when he was at Lille and I was really intrigued when I saw some of his footage there. So when he signed for Brighton I wanted to watch him closer.

Anyway, definitely agree that he has some of the skills of Wanyama, Dembele and Kante. He is an absolute beast of a midfielder can dominate matches with his athleticism, technique and strength.

I would also say though that I really believe he’s got more in his locker, he just needs to bring it out. I’ve seen him play superb passes forward and influence action higher up at times, so he definitely has more to his game and more to give.

I really think he could become an absolute worldy under Conte.

Yeah I really think playing with our level of players is going to elevate him even more
