People have tried making this false comparison before.

Alderweireld is an ageing, declining player with little transfer value and a high salary.

Kane is arguably the best striker in the world in his prime. If Kane wants to leave then we should listen to offers but still have a player of considerable worth.

Really not remotely comparable to Alderweireld.

Rose isn't comparable either as he intended to see out his contract and act like a prick. He obviously had some fallouts with people because of interviews and whatever. Nothing suggests that TA would sit out his contract out of spite, or that is he is impopular and should be moved on. He is also the best CB we have atm, Rose hasn't been near his best for years.

A Reddit user stated that he’s building a new home in Kapellen, which is 20 minutes from Antwerp. Toby may simply just want to go back to Belgium. His kids are getting near school age. I don’t think he’d have an issue with a paycut if that’s what he wants.

Not sure about that. I doubt Rose’s intention was to be a prick.

He went on loan to Newcastle. My guess is he would have gone elsewhere if there was no financial loss to him.

I'm pretty sure Qatar isn't in Belgium. Just a stab in the dark but it's funny how money can change priorities.
I don’t really think Belgium was ever actually on the table this year, if he’s worth 13m we were never letting him go for free and no team there can afford him. Not going to judge him too harshly for grabbing an easy payday before retirement.

Unbelievable deal for us. He still has a role but I'd take that in a heartbeat for a player of his age if we get a new CB in.

He's arguably our best CB but his performances have already been dipping.

Next summer he'll be in his last year so the only chance we'd get to cash in so on that basis I'd take it.

One of the very best center backs we’ve had at the club - right up there, but that is a great deal for a player who is in the twilight years and can be replaced.

Weird. Guess no one else is prepared to take on his wages. Suppose he can play a couple seasons in Qatar, make enough money to secure his retirement, and then go back to Belgium and play for peanuts.
Never heard of them; were they promoted this year to the top tier in Belgium?
