Bump. LB needs to stay high on our list of needs. Easiest place we can massively improve a starting 11 member.
Was just going to do the same, I think this guy would improve us massively.

We just cant keep the ball when we play through Davies.

And seems we’ve got a clean opportunity to sign one of the top prospects in his position for a very reasonable fee. Even if we agree to the buyback clause, I don’t care - we need players that are urgent to win, not Steady Eddies who deliver functional mediocrity most games.
Agreed. Fed up of this bullshit about future building. If we don’t sort ourselves out now and make some signings there will be no future for the club.

If we got him for 18m, with a buyback activated after 2 years it would be smart business.

We would effectively be getting him for free for 2 years and probably make some money on top.

Completely agree, James is not a quick player yet Davies got ruined every single time today. God help us when he comes up against salah/sterling...

TBF he gets ruined most weeks. At best (and not that great tbh) he is a squad player

Its glaring some like Regullion is needed pronto

Get him in, I don't care about the buyback clause. If Madrid target him as the Marcelo replacement in a year or two we won't be able to hold onto him, clause or no clause. And the only reason they'd target him is if he plays up to the standard of being worthy of replacing Marcelo. Sounds fine to me.

I would love us to sign Reguilon but any left back would be a bonus I cant believe Sess or Cirkin aren't better than Davies he offers nothing going forwards and he is clumsy at best at the back and that pass today my fucking god that's under 11s basics not to play ranging passes across your own back 4. Beigest footballer to ever exist and utter utter dogshit at best a championship sub not a premier league starter.

Would love to get him in but besides Dragon, the ITK trail seems to have gone cold

Davies is average. Nothing more, nothing less. This is one of the areas in the first 11 that need to be upgraded upon. Take this opportunity when a quality player presents itself at a good price

Really wish we would just sell our deadweight at a fraction cheaper to make this happen (if our asking price is the holdup on the outgoings). Easy position to upgrade immediately and it’ll make a huge difference in our play.

Clearly we need depth at LB. Sess isn’t the solution. Indeed, I’m not sure what his best position is within our team. For that matter, what position does he want to play?
Davies needs cover and competition.

I would be more willing to sell off Foyth, Rose and CCV to fund a move for Reguilon and let Davies function as depth at CB. This would be if we can’t afford to spend on both LB and CB.

The thing is with Davies he was always our 2nd choice after Rose. He isn't any better than he was 3 years ago but he's now first choice which makes us weaker. He had one of his poorer games yesterday but he is overall a good player. We never replaced peak Rose though.

We're really not in a position to NOT take chances now are we?!

We have to let somethings slide because our reactive mindset over the years has pushed us into a bad situation.

The club need to think short term for a little bit, get some players in who can get us up there pushing again, if that means we are at risk to losing Reguilon for a buy back fee, or losing a a player cause his loan finished then fine.

The alternative of signing cheap players on 4 year contracts could be much worse as..
1. They may struggle to get us back up there.
2. We will struggle to offload them if they do struggle

He's clumsy and he gives the ball away but he does work hard and is a good back up who in general will put a shift in and not try a flashy stepover on the edge of his own box like Aurier so he gets a bit of an easy ride. I'm not an Aurier fan because he can be rash but he is a much better footballer than Davies and we all or most wanted him gone at points last season. Because Davies is a bit bland and a nice quiet guy he gets away with some things that Aurier would be absolutely slated for. If Aurier made that weird star jump challenge against Leipzig last year or that absolutely ridiculous pass to Richarlison yesterday can you imagine the abuse he would be getting? Upgrading on Davies is crucial if we ever want to win anything you have to have at least 11 top players not 10 and a functional make do left back.

It is like the time we were linked with Coentrao.
Seems mostly agent work to make him interesting on the market, rather us being interested.

Mou has mentioend several times he is planning with Davies as main choice, is that a way to convince Reguilon to come over? He could probably have around 50% of the matches for several CL clubs.

Its not like we splash the cash.

He would be very useful but unless we get rid of several players (including Rose), I can not see it.

I know it's delusional, but I'm hoping the theory from United that they're being used to coax a bit out of us is true and this is Madrid's main source doing some work.

The reality is obviously we won't sign him, but I'm trying to have some hope for this shit time we're having atm
