Should have clarified. Premier League.LOL so you weren't impressed when he scored 15 goals in a Championship season, was a two time Championship team of the season member and won a Championship player of the season award, all before he was 18?
I've seen it mentioned several times that he is "Premier league proven" . Whilst he has played a season in the Premier league, it's not as if he (or Fulham) pulled up any trees during that season.
That's not to criticise him, especially as he is still so young and obviously a talent, just that the phrase gets thrown around far too easily.
True, but in the context of a 19 year old, the phrase 'Premier League proven' has a more significant meaning.
How many 19 year olds have 30 PL caps? (or 18 year olds, since he was 18 when he won them).
We'll probably find that the young players that did, or do, have those caps went on to have fantastic careers.
Correct.. Rooney, Messi, Ronaldo, Fabregas and to some degree Michael Owen are testament to your argumentTrue, but in the context of a 19 year old, the phrase 'Premier League proven' has a more significant meaning.

No one can be certain, but he’s only 18 and already been immense in the championship.I’m a little bit meh about signing this guy. What makes everyone so certain that he’s ready to make the step up?

To add to the two posts above, he managed 2 goals and 6 assists last season in a terrible Fulham team. Not world beating stats, sure, but you have to consider that he played under 3 different managers, in 4 different positions (LB, LW, RW, CAM) and spent a lot of time on the bench, as well as him only being 18 and in his first season in the toughest league in the world, then he clearly hasn't done too badly at all.I’m a little bit meh about signing this guy.
