That pairing would be too soft and would get bullied by most midfields. Maybe Carrol with Capoue or Stambouli and Mason pushed up a bit into the 2 would work.
Milner's certainly turned it on. Was unrecognisable against us, fair play to him.I agree and think he will end up taking Capoue's place, but I just not sure Dembele fits long term and don't think Stambouli, Capoue, Mason and Bentaleb is enough.
Never though I would say this and I disagreed with posters who suggested it in the summer, but I wouldn't mind bringing in Milner in for Dembele. Another option, though he lacks experience and leadership skill is Rabiot, he will be a top player one day. Both players have contracts that expire in June too.
I actually haven't even seen our game v City yet, so that was even excluding that performance.Milner's certainly turned it on. Was unrecognisable against us, fair play to him.
Bullied? It'd get absolutely jizzed on. After seeing the way the likes of Adam and Moses breezed Carroll yesterday I'd have serious concerns about playing him midfield full stop, let alone as a holding mid alongside Mason of all people.
Poch would be mad to drop Capoue. He's been immense for the majority of this season. If anything, I can see Stambouli playing with Capoue but obviously that would only happen if Mason had a massive drop in performance (and, of course, this applies to Capoue as well but he's just perfect for Poch's system)I agree and think he will end up taking Capoue's place, but I just not sure Dembele fits long term and don't think Stambouli, Capoue, Mason and Bentaleb is enough.

If they do flog he's worth a punt by the looks of him now. I used to think he was a useless duke nukem headed clown but he's recently become a very useful player indeed.I actually haven't even seen our game v City yet, so that was even excluding that performance.
I wonder if City will offer him a new contract of let him go at the end of the season.
Carroll is far too lightweight. Thought he really struggled on Sunday against a mediocre side, not good enough to play for us just yet. Mason however I have been impressed with. Has done more than enough to start for us. Stambouli needs a chance however, has looked good Everytime he has played. He will start thursPoch would be mad to drop Capoue. As for Tom Carroll (not related to your post...), I don't think he has a future with us. He's just not good enough from what I've seen and very overrated on here. The fact that some people suggest that he should start is crazy (let alone being in the squad). Suggesting he should play with Mason is just full on stupidity.
I agree with you on this one (although you know I disagree with you when it comes to other youth players ). Yeah, Stambouli has looked good when he's played- I have no idea why, for the most part (last Saturday being an exception), he hasn't been on the bench for PL games.Carroll is far too lightweight. I think poch didn't want to throw the likes of him and fazio straight in as he obviously believes they need to earn the right. Hopefully he can see these 2 are worthy of being in every squad. Stambouli will be pushing capoue hard now if he is poor against Newcastle. He needs to respond after Saturday, as does lamela.I agree with you on this one (although you know I disagree with you when it comes to other youth players ). As I've said, I think replacing Capoue just won't be the answer.I think poch didn't want to throw the likes of him and fazio straight in as he obviously believes they need to earn the right. I don't think Capoue will be dropped anytime soon as he has, as you say, been very good but I think he lacks fight and when the chips are down, his head drops and he tends to lose some of his ability suddenly. I think Stambouli offers most of what Capoue does but also add's fight which is something we having been lacking badly at times this season.Poch would be mad to drop Capoue. Although I share your suspicion, I think it would be foolish to let him go this early. Many of the best playmakers in the world have been late bloomers.I have to agree about Carroll, I dont think he is ever going to make it in a Spurs shirt. He just lacks something to me, is it aggression, pace or urgency I'm not too sure. Yes he is a very cultured player and would probably look very good in Spain or definitely in Italy, however the Premiership is a different league altogether, and against Stoke he really struggled.
Im willing to give him time though this season, however if he can't get into Swanseas team on a regular basis then he shouldnt be getting into ours.

Xavi, Pirlo's, Riquelme, Lampard, none of these guys really got into their stride until mid twenties. Big difference though is that all were first team regulars from their teens, and persisted with for years with increasing responsibility every season that passed. They became top class not just because of age and God given talent, but top level experience. Carroll is 23 and has started one premier league match.Examples of this would help...not that I disagree with you mind. Xavi and Pirlo were both arguably late bloomers.
Tom Carroll won't make it at Spurs. He isnt anywhere close to being as good as Bentaleb or Mason. Massively overrated.
