Hopefully, he gets back up to full fitness. He is an absolute monster in the middle. You could notice the drop in quality when he went out injured last season.

He was playing Ange's style of football before Ange arrived. The rest of the team were looking at each other like "what is this?"

Will be a huge boost to have him back, no questions about it.

Amazed how little he's referenced to by the pundits and media.

I’ve heard a few of them saying how good he is and how much we’ve missed him/what a bonus it will be when he’s back. Think Jamie Redknapp was one of them.

Granted there may be some exceptions and I was casting a sweeping generalisation here but just get the sense that he is still under appreciated and I guess in no small part because of how well up to now our midfield has performed coupled with the style adopted.

Could work out well, bring him back gradually and he’ll be up to speed when the ACoN starts and we lose players

Bentancur will help tremendously when the ACN is on and we're left light in midfield.

Replacing Son is what might give us problems.

It’s because he’s a 90 minute high level of general performance type of player rather than a highlight player. They don’t tend to actually do their job to the best of their ability and sit through multiple 90 minute matches per week like a lot of us on here will do

100+

Slightly off-topic, but this is what I meant by Bent gives us incredible depth in midfield and thus isn't our *first* priority in January.

1. Striker.
2. CB.
3. Maddison backup (or winger backup, if we ever try Kulu at no. 10).

I hate to temper expectations here but there is a good chance after that injury that he never reaches the same levels again and has to become a different player.

Which may well be fine, of course. However, I do worry that his athleticism and ability to play on the half-turn are attributes that suffer, which for him would be hugely detrimental to his overall game.

Anyway, we will definitely need to be very patient and hope he makes a full recovery.

Sorry to piss on the positive nostalgia going on in here, I promise I am normally quite fun at parties! 🥹 😂

My only expectations are he scores a hat trick against Chelsea on his return and carries us to the league title this season

ACL's are the worst. He's gotta trust his surgery went well and play his usual way. 8 months or more on the sideline is hard to push the body, as the brain can become a real block for anyone with that injury.

I really hate the African Nations cup. I wish they could have it over put summer, it would make for better viewing figures and wouldn't take Bissouma and Sarr away 😑😑

They've just got to find somewhere to play it that's not 40c + in June/July, such as Scandinavia (y)

Or Southern Africa? Like the World Cup in South Africa which was colder than a European summer. 🤷🏽
Yeah I was going to point out that the equator runs through Africa... I guess in fairness the majority of African countries are northern hemisphere, though.

Would really limit where they could host it though. I don’t think it’s fair for us to expect them to move their tournament because it doesn’t suit the European leagues.

Agreed. Just pointing out that the whole of Africa isn’t a hot desert.

Would make more sense to put an international break for Europe & America at same time as Asian cup snd Afcon
